Boneo Buzz June 5th
Dear Parents and Carers,
Today our staff participated in a full day of professional learning as part of our Curriculum Day. Throughout the day, teachers and education support staff engaged in a range of learning opportunities focused on evidence-based teaching practices across key learning areas.
The professional learning provided staff with the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of effective instructional strategies, review current research, analyse student learning data and collaborate with colleagues to strengthen teaching and learning programs. By working together and continually refining our practice, we can ensure that our students receive high-quality, engaging and targeted learning experiences.
I would like to thank our staff for their commitment to ongoing professional growth and their dedication to providing the best possible educational experiences for every student at Boneo Primary School.
I would also like to thank our families and wider school community for their ongoing support and understanding. We appreciate the adjustments families make to accommodate these professional learning days and value the partnership we share in supporting the learning and wellbeing of our students.
A reminder also that Monday is the King’s Birthday Public Holiday. I hope all of our families enjoy a safe, restful and enjoyable long weekend.
Basketball Court Usage
We have a number of basketball teams that currently use the school’s basketball courts for training outside of school hours. To ensure our facilities are used safely and appropriately, and to meet Child Safe Standards requirements, all teams wishing to train on the courts after school will be required to have a usage agreement in place with the school.
Teams wishing to continue using the courts are asked to contact the Principal to discuss and establish this agreement via email: boneo.ps@education.vic.gov.au. From the beginning of next term, teams without an approved agreement in place will not be permitted to train on the school courts outside of school hours.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and support in helping us maintain a safe environment for all children and uphold our Child Safe obligations.
Congratulations to Our Cross Country Competitors
Congratulations to all students who represented Boneo Primary School at the recent Cross Country event. Our students demonstrated determination, resilience and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts.
A special congratulations goes to the students who also progressed to the Division Cross Country event this week: Maeve D, Freya D, Zeke G, Evie H, Albie J, Levi M, Frankie S. We are so very proud of all of them! We now also cheer Maeve D on who has made it through to Regional – congratulations.
Thank you to the staff and families who supported our students in preparing for and participating in this event.
Building Resilience at Home – Parent Webinar
At Boneo Primary School, we are committed to supporting the wellbeing of our students through our partnership with The Resilience Project. We know that building resilience is most effective when schools and families work together, and we are excited to invite parents and carers to an upcoming online webinar designed to support this important work.

Presented by Whitney from The Resilience Project, this engaging session will provide parents and carers with practical strategies to support their child’s wellbeing at home through the principles of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness (GEM).
The webinar will explore:
· Practical ways to foster resilience in children and young people
· Simple strategies to incorporate Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness into everyday family life
· How positive wellbeing practices can support children’s emotional development, relationships and learning
· Ways families can reinforce the wellbeing approaches being taught at school
Research consistently shows that a strong partnership between home and school has a significant positive impact on student wellbeing. This session is a wonderful opportunity for families to gain valuable insights and practical tools that can be used immediately at home. Parents and carers are encouraged to register individually using the link provided via Compass.
Following registration, participants will receive a Zoom link and calendar invitation directly from The Resilience Project. If you are unable to attend on the evening, a recording of the webinar will be made available and shared with our school community afterwards.
