Boneo Buzz May 16th
Dear Parents and Carers,
Today we take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation for our exceptional Education Support (ES) staff. Their unwavering dedication and tireless efforts play a pivotal role in supporting our students’ learning and wellbeing. They are an integral part of the Boneo PS community, and our school would not function as smoothly without each one of them.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).
Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:
- year of schooling
- category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
- level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.
This information assists schools to:
- formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
- consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
- develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.
The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy).
Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).
If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact the school.
Upcoming Curriculum Days and Professional Practice Day
Our two upcoming Curriculum Days will be held on Friday 6 June and Monday 3 November. Our Professional Practice Day is scheduled for Friday 29 August. On these days, students are not required to attend school as staff will be engaged in professional learning and planning. Thank you for your support.
School Uniform
I would like to kindly remind all families about the importance of students wearing the correct school uniform each day. School uniforms help promote a sense of unity and pride and ensure that our learning environment remains focused and respectful.
Please ensure that your child arrives at school in full uniform, including appropriate footwear and avoiding jewellery, hoodies, coloured socks etc.
If you have any questions about the uniform guidelines or need assistance, feel free to contact the school office.
National Simultaneous Storytime
National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 25th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children’s book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas for Foundation to Year 6.
If you would like to participate from home on Wednesday 21 May 2025 at 12:00pm (AEST) you can register here: https://alia.informz.net/ALIA/pages/NSS2025_Register.
All classes at Boneo will take part in their classrooms.
