Boneo Buzz: Friday 29th November

Dear Parents and Carers,

With only three weeks remaining until the end of the school year, there is much to look forward to as we approach this exciting time. Among the key highlights are the highly anticipated End-of-Year Picnic and the Year 6 Graduation—a significant milestone that celebrates students’ transition to the next chapter of their educational journey. Alongside these special events, our dedicated teachers are diligently preparing end-of-year reports. These reports will provide a comprehensive reflection of your child’s learning, progress, and growth throughout the year, offering valuable insights into their achievements and development.

As we approach Step-Up Day on Friday the 13th December, I would like to provide insight into our class placement process. This important process is carefully designed to create a positive and supportive learning environment for every student.

Our approach is guided by three key considerations:

Academic Spread: We strive to form classes with a well-rounded academic distribution by considering students’ strengths and areas for growth. By ensuring a mix of abilities within each class, we create opportunities for all students to thrive academically and be appropriately challenged.

Social and Emotional Wellbeing: Recognising the critical role of social and emotional development, we carefully consider factors that contribute to students’ overall wellbeing. Our goal is to create positive, inclusive environments where students feel connected, supported, and comfortable expressing themselves.

Learner Friendship Selection: We acknowledge the importance of positive learning friends in shaping a child’s school experience. While we cannot always accommodate specific friend requests, we carefully assess social dynamics to promote a sense of community and foster positive relationships in every class.

The assignment of teachers to student cohorts is a thorough and collaborative process. Classroom teachers, specialist teachers, and Educational Support staff provide valuable input, and I carefully review all proposed class lists to ensure the best outcomes for all students. Final teacher allocations are made with the collective goal of supporting students’ academic and personal growth.

Please rest assured that your child’s education and overall development remain our top priorities. Our dedicated team works diligently to create a learning environment where every student can succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
