Boneo Buzz: 1st November

Dear Parents and Carers,

Student learning is at the heart of our mission here at Boneo Primary School. This past month, we have seen remarkable enthusiasm and engagement as our students explore new concepts and deepen their understanding across various subjects. From collaborative group projects to publishing written work, students are actively participating in their education and developing critical thinking skills. Our dedicated staff are employing diverse instructional strategies to cater to different learning styles, ensuring that each student receives the support they need to thrive. We encourage parents and carers to engage in conversations about their children’s learning experiences at school, as this partnership plays a vital role in fostering a love for learning and academic success. Together, we are building a foundation for lifelong learners!

Student Leadership 2025

Shortly, we will begin working on the selection process for our 2025 Student Leadership positions. Our Year 5 students will soon receive information from our current School Leaders, and we will be encouraging all Year 5 students to apply for these positions of responsibility.

Our current School Captains will be working with me throughout the entire process, including interviewing all of our applicants.

In 2025, we are looking for students who

  • display a wish to represent our school as a leader,
  • are an excellent role model for all students,
  • show respect to all members of the school community,
  • wear the school uniform properly to school and school functions,
  • exhibit a range of leadership characteristics, and
  • live and uphold our school values.

We wish the Year 5 students all the best with their applications, and I look forward to interviewing our future school leaders.

Curriculum Day

Please be reminded that Monday 4th November is a Curriculum Day. Students are not required to attend school on this day. Staff will be dedicating the day to Inquiry Learning and working on our school’s Instructional Model, with a special emphasis on Personalised Learning.

A heartfelt ‘Thank You’

On behalf of the Boneo PS community, I would like to thank Sue Lord who has very generously donated a Baby Grand Piano for our students to use. We were very excited when it arrived and are looking forward to putting it to good use.

Oaks Day 2024

Less than a week to go! We look forward to hosting our guests at the National on Thursday for what will hopefully be another successful day.

Our crowd favourite lolly buffet will be back, generously sponsored by Point Nepean Landscape Constructions.

We have a variety of auction items on offer and some very special ‘live auction’ items. Unfortunately our regular auctioneer, Adam Alexander, is unable to attend this year’s event, so we are trying to secure the services of an auctioneer for the day. If you have a contact or know of someone who will be willing to offer an hour of their time, please contact the office.

Our guests will be treated to make-up touch ups by the very talented Vanessa Harlem and ‘Milliner Girl’ Annette Sanfilippo will be on hand to share her styling expertise and to host our ‘Fashions on the Field’.

‘Bookie’ Tom Pollett and ‘Oaks Day’ Warren Gray are returning to run our Race Day Sweeps and we will of course be holding raffles on the day.

Cash and EFTPOS facilities are available on the day.

To those attending on the day, we hope you are as excited as we are to connect and celebrate with our very special community.

The Boneo Bus will do a run at the end of the event, with a venue to be confirmed on the day, please note there will only be one drop off point.

Snapshot of Learning

Grade Four Camp – Golden Valleys

Yr 6 TREC – Outdoor Ed

In Week 4 TREC – Outdoor Ed, students explored Point Nepean National Park. They walked from Gunners Cottage to Quarantine Station, learning about some of the history of this significant local attraction.  Students made observations about the natural environment and manmade interventions. They also considered ways to protect our environment.

Year Three Camp – The Ranch

On the 24th of October the Year 3 group went to The Ranch for camp. We did lots of activities like the giant swing, it was 18 meters high. We also had lots of fun at mountain boarding, the hardest level was five where we went over a jump. We climbed high in the rock climbing, we had two options, straight wall or the incline wall. After dinner and desert in the chapel we explored deep into the land of The Ranch on the evening hike. It was a really fun experience, and we hope to go there again.
