Boneo Buzz: Friday 15th November

Dear Parents and Carers,

On Monday 11th November, Remembrance Day, we paused for a minute’s silence to remember people’s service and sacrifice. I joined our proud parents at the Remembrance Day Service held at the Rosebud RSL Cenotaph.  This was followed with the presentation of Scholarships to local Primary and Secondary students. We are so proud of our four recipients.

Boneo Market Volunteer

As many of you know, our school is deeply committed to supporting both our school and the broader community through our involvement in the Boneo Market. Each month, our efforts at the market play a crucial role in raising much-needed funds, which are reinvested directly into our school. These funds support classroom programs, student resources, student program costs, and school facilities to name a few.

We are currently seeking a dedicated volunteer/s to serve as additional school representatives on the Boneo Market Committee. This role involves a more active level of participation, ensuring our continued success at the market and further strengthening our community ties.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with the Boneo Market Committee, with attendance at one meeting every three months held onsite at our school
  • Managing the market phone to record stallholder bookings (responsibility is shared across committee members throughout the year)
  • Assisting with market setup (shared with fellow committee members).

Behind-the-scenes efforts are invaluable to the success of the Boneo Market, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sarah Brown, who has supported our school as a dedicated committee member for several years and continues to do so. It would be invaluable to have additional committee members and if you are interested in volunteering and contributing to our school community through this role, please feel free to contact me.

Human Powered Vehicle

At our assembly last Friday, we had the privilege of recognising and celebrating the outstanding efforts of two teams of Year 5 and 6 students who will represent Boneo Primary School in the esteemed Energy Breakthrough event next week. The Energy Breakthrough event in Maryborough is an annual program that encourages students, teachers, and communities to work together to design, build, and race innovative vehicles powered by renewable energy. It draws thousands of participants and spectators, promoting teamwork, creativity, and sustainability. We wish our teams all the best.

I recently wrote about the importance of students wearing the correct School Uniform, including their hats, and I would like to thank you all for your support. Whilst we have seen a significant improvement, please remind your child/ren that their socks need to be black or white only.
