Boneo Buzz: 11th October

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this message finds you well and filled with excitement as we move into the final term of 2024.

Term 4 is always an action-packed term full of fun and excitement. Here are some highlights to look forward to:

Prep Transition: We extend a warm welcome to our 2025 Preps as they embark on their educational journey with us. Transition activities will help them become familiar with our school, staff, and their fellow classmates. Transition begins on Wednesday 23rd from 9am until 10am.

Celebrating the Graduating Class of 2024: We look forward to honouring our graduating class of 2024 and celebrating their hard work and dedication as they prepare to move on to secondary school.

Events: We have a number of special events this term including Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) Maryborough, a number of camps, Year 2 Sleepover, end of year Celebration Picnic as well as a number of end of year excursions and incursions.

We are excited about the possibilities that this term holds for our students and families. As always, we are committed to providing the best educational experience for our students, and your support makes it all possible. It was fantastic to see a large number of family members join us this morning to ‘Share the Joy of Learning,’ with our students and staff. Your support is always appreciated!

Tennis

This week I met with the new Tennis Works Director at the Boneo Tennis Club, Chris Guy. Chris will be liaising with the school on ways in which we can provide some more opportunities for our students to participate in tennis. Please see the link below for details regarding Chris’s current program at Boneo Tennis Club. There is also an option where parents are able to book their child/ren in for a free trial: https://www.tennisworks.com.au/boneo-junior-tennis-program

School Saving Bonus

As shared with you previously, parents and carers of every child enrolled in a Victorian government school in 2025 will receive the one-off School Saving Bonus $400 support.

In the coming months, the Department of Education will send you 2 email communications for each of your children enrolled in Victorian government schools.

By Friday 18 October 2024, please ensure that your child’s 2025 enrolment is completed and that your contact information is up to date.

The 2 emails from the Department of Education will:

  1. Confirm your email address between mid-October and late-November.
  2. Provide you with your unique $400 School Saving Bonus code by the end of November.

If you do not receive a confirmation email from the department by late-November, please check your spam or junk folders and contact the office if needed.

You can read more about the School Saving Bonus on the Department of Education website, School Saving Bonus | vic.gov.au (www.vic.gov.au) with key information now available in 14 different languages.

Oaks Day 2024

Our Oaks Day event is fast approaching so save the date – Thursday 7th November

Thank you so much for the offers of support with organising our major Term 4 Oaks Day Fundraiser. We are hoping parents can help us to secure silent auction items and donations by approaching local businesses. If everyone secures a sponsor we will have plenty to offer on the day.
Below is a link to a google doc where we ask parents to record which business/es they will approach as well as a letter that you can give to each sponsor. There is also printed copies of the letter in the office if you don’t have a printer. Please feel free to add any other business you are going to approach.

HPV 2024

The Energy Breakthrough’s Human Powered Vehicle program has been a part of our 5/6 TREC experience since 2018. The program heavily involves students with a passion for STEM, health and fitness and environmental sustainability. Each year, students learn, train and prepare for the Energy Breakthrough event in Maryborough where they compete against primary schools from all across the state and country.
We are thrilled to announce that this year, with the incredible support from local businesses and families, we were able to purchase a new racing HPV ready for competition. The brand new TRISLED HORNET is a lightweight racing recumbent tricycle, with a fairing made from environmentally sustainable corflute. The students, along with Mr Sumner and Ms Young have been busy working to piece the vehicle together ready for our 2024 campaign.
We wish to thank all of the following individuals and businesses for their financial support of this incredible program to elevate the experience for our students:
APD Concreting PTY LTD
Aaron Simmons Tiling and Renovations
Barbara Van Hooy donk (Reid family)
Belle Property Dromana
Hastings Panels
MP Glass & Screens Pty Ltd
Patterson Cheney Cars & Trucks
Prize Plumbing
Reece Dromana
Splash of Color Tattoo Art
