Boneo Buzz April 4th
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we reach the end of Term 1, we take this opportunity to celebrate the remarkable achievements, growth and progress of our students. It has been a busy and rewarding term filled with learning, engagement and community connection.
Our students have demonstrated incredible dedication to their learning, embracing new challenges, setting and achieving goals and developing essential skills across all areas of the curriculum. Their enthusiasm and perseverance have been truly inspiring, and we are incredibly proud of their accomplishments.
This term, we have also come together as a school community through a number of whole-school events. The Share the Joy of Learning event was a wonderful opportunity for families to witness firsthand the enthusiasm and curiosity our students bring to their learning every day. Our Parent Information Evening provided valuable insights into the year ahead, equipping families with the knowledge and resources to support their child’s education. Additionally, our Parent-Teacher Interviews allowed for meaningful discussions about student progress and future learning goals.
A highlight of the term was our annual Family, Food and Fun Night, which brought together students, families, and staff for a fantastic evening of celebration and connection. It was heartwarming to see our community come together to enjoy great food, fun activities and quality time together.
We are also thrilled to have invested in new resources to enhance student learning across all year levels. These resources will further support our students in their learning journey, providing them with innovative tools to explore and succeed.
Thank you to all our students, families and staff for a successful Term 1. We appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to an exciting Term 2 filled with new learning opportunities and engaging activities.
Wishing you all a safe, happy and restful break.
ANZAC Day and Grandparent’s / Special Friend Morning
The Rosebud RSL will be hosting the ANZAC Day March on Friday 25th April. The march will commence at 9:30am from the corner of Point Nepean Road and Ninth Avenue and head to the Rosebud Cenotaph on the Corner of Jetty and Point Nepean Roads. This will be followed by the main ANZAC Day Service.
We invite our students and families to join us to represent our community at the ANZAC Service. Our School Captains will be laying a wreath on our behalf, and it would be wonderful to support them by attending as a community.
Our upcoming annual ANZAC/Grandparent, Special Friend Assembly will be held on Thursday 24th April. The service will commence at 9am and will be followed by a visit to classrooms and morning tea in the Boneo Hall. It is always a special occasion, and I hope many of you will be able to join us.
Boneo Community Market – 19 April
Thank you to those of you who have already volunteered for Car Parking Duty on 19 April. We still require 2 volunteers for the 9.10 to 10.20am time slot, and 2 volunteers for the 10.20 to 11.30am time slot. If you are able to help with this, please sign in on Compass under conferences. We will not be running our BBQ stall at the April market.
Principal for the Day- Lakey Chapman
On Thursday Lakey took over the role as Principal for the Day! This allows our students to experience a day in the life of our school leader. Lakey did an incredible job helping in various roles around the school.
Thanks, Lakey!

Snapshot of Learning
TREC- Help Mic Drop Soundproof Our Studio
As Boneo Primary School, we are the Year 5/6 TREC podcasting team, Mic Drop, and we are excited to start recording our own show.
Before we can begin, we need to improve our recording studio. A simple and effective way to do this is by using egg cartons for soundproofing. We can’t start the show until we have enough, so please bring them in as soon as possible!
How You Can Help
- Drop off empty egg cartons off at Ms. Brown’s room, near the ninja course
- Spread the word to family and friends.
Every little bit helps! Thank you for supporting Mic Drop as we bring this exciting project to life. Keep an eye out for our updates in the Boneo Buzz!

TREC Cozy Craft Club
This term, students have been learning a variety of craft skills from origami, finger-knitting, scrapbooking to sketching. This week, we held our first Master Class on crocheting. Thank you to Mel, who came to teach our students to crochet a granny-square and begin making their own blanket. We look forward to an origami Master Class next term.

TREC Fuse Cup Mario Kart Competition!
This week, our Boneo TREC group participated in round one of The Fuse Cup at Haileybury College in Keysborough, competing against other primary schools. The Fuse Cup is an international school esports competition that is focused on providing young students with an opportunity to participate in safe, inclusive, supportive and structured school-based esports competition while developing positive gaming behaviours and digital wellbeing.
A great effort from our Year 5/6 students in the first round of Mario Kart. Next up, Just Dance!

Louie Kennedy – Vietnam Inquiry Project
I invited my Papa to visit my class and share his experiences from the Vietnam War. This was especially important to me because my inquiry focus was on Vietnam, and while learning about the challenges Anh Do faced due to the war, I was reminded of the incredible stories my Papa has told me. I shared some of these with my class, and since they were so interested, I thought—why not ask him to speak with them himself?
My class loved it! Papa talked about why the war began and how Australia supported the Vietnamese people. He also shared photos of his platoon and explained how they worked together during their 10 months of service. My friends were especially shocked by his battle with the Asian Giant Hornets! I’m so proud of him!
