Boneo Buzz: 8th November

‘The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.’

Our Wonderful Community,

In this edition of the Buzz, I want to highlight how privileged we are to be supported by such a generous, dedicated community. The National was a sea of florals and fascinators yesterday for the Boneo Primary School Annual Oaks Day Luncheon.

The stylish ladies and gents of the Peninsula put on their best attire for a day of delicious food, great company and fundraising for a good cause, with all proceeds from the day helping to fund new technology for use in every classroom. The action packed afternoon featured, silent and live auctions, Fashions on the Field competition, raffle and sweepstakes.

We are blessed to have the support of a generous community and I want to acknowledge our major sponsors – The National, Husk, Peninsula Life Medispa, Kiodo Marketing & Design.

Vanessa Harlem and Annette Sanfillipo of Amaroo Studio Salon provided the Beauty Station and styling assistance. A favourite on the day, the Lolly Buffet was sponsored by McPherson Bricklaying. We were inundated with items to auction and have attached an extensive list of supporters. A huge shout out to these organisations.

The day would not be possible without the dedication of an organising committee. Our school community appreciates the efforts of Danielle McPherson, Kristen Black, Natasha Lee, Lauren Johansson and Amanda Swayn. Ladies, your passion and drive is phenomenal and you can feel justifiably proud that your hard work ensured a stunning day was had by all.

Apart from its fundraising benefit, the luncheon was a wonderful opportunity for guests to enjoy the atmosphere and connect as a community.

After School Safety

Parents have reported that some children, on the far side of the oval, are remaining unsupervised after 3:30pm. Can I ask that if parents are delayed for any reason, please call the school and we will care for the children in the office. Additionally, please ensure that all children are supervised after school, as I am concerned when I hear that some children are playing on the top of the cricket nets.

Puberty Education

On Wednesday evening, Mornington Peninsula Youth Services provided a Puberty Education information session for Year 6 parents.

Thanking Lauren Johansson for delivering this session and providing invaluable advice on how we can grow this service in 2020.

Remembrance Day

On Monday, we will be supporting the RSL Poppy Appeal, selling poppies on behalf of the Rosebud RSL. If your child would like a poppy, please send them with a gold coin donation.

More of our Oaks Day sponsors are listed later in this edition of the Buzz.

Snapshot of Learning this Week

Rugby Gala Day

On  Wednesday, Boneo students, both girls and boys, participated in the Interschool Rugby Day at the Rosebud Olympic Park.

We would like to thank Mr Cooper who supervised the students and Mrs Becker who drove to the venue.

Unfortunately, the girls had no wins, and the boys were fortunate enough to come away with 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss.

Overall the Girls placed fourth and the boys came third. We had a fantastic day and enjoyed the experience of playing against other schools.
