Boneo Buzz 8th May

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we head into the weekend, I would like to wish all of the wonderful mothers, grandmothers, aunties, carers and special people in our school community a very Happy Mother’s Day. Thank you for the care, guidance, encouragement and unconditional love you provide each and every day. The support you give our students helps them grow into confident, resilient and caring young people, and we are incredibly grateful for all that you do.

A special thank you to Amanda, Kellie and our wonderful parent volunteers, Hayden and Cassey Penglis, Kristin Meister, Narelle Hollway, Ciaran McClure, Aurelie Harford, Linda Ragonesi Jessop, Cara Black Stephens and Tamsen Boland, for their time and effort in organising and running yesterday’s Mother’s Day Stall. It was greatly appreciated by our students and school community.

Attitudes to school survey (AToSS) Years 4—6

The Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS) is an annual student survey provided by the Department of Education that helps schools better understand how students feel about their school experience. At Boneo Primary School, we genuinely value student voice and see it as an important part of improving student wellbeing, engagement and learning outcomes. Students in Years 4–6 will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences about school, learning, friendships, resilience, wellbeing, physical activity and life in general.

A note was sent home via Compass to the parents of year 4-6 students yesterday with further information about the survey and information for parents if they do not want their child to participate. Student participation in the survey is voluntary, and parents may opt out if they do not want their child to participate following the steps in yesterday’s note.

Annual report

Each year, schools prepare an Annual Report to inform parents and the wider school community of the school’s successes, activities and achievements throughout the year. Our Annual Report is available for viewing on our website at Annual Report 2025. These results help us to celebrate our successes and guide future improvement initiatives.

Enrolment process / School tours

We are currently running school tours for potential new preps and their parents for 2027 and have dates available throughout the term. If you know of interested prep parents for 2027 please encourage them to ring the office to book a tour. They can also access further information on our website for the statewide Foundation enrolment timeline and process that applies for children starting Foundation (Prep) in 2027. For parents with prep siblings starting in 2027, I encourage you to enrol your children early this term to give us an indication of our enrolments for the new year. This really helps us to work out how many classes we will have for 2027.

Information packs are now available from the office.

Principals of the Day

I have certainly been spoilt this week, having not one, not two, but three Principals for the Day across the week! It has been wonderful to see our students, Hudson S, Elke G and Kenzie B, step into the role with such enthusiasm, confidence and leadership.

From helping make important “school decisions” to visiting classrooms, chatting with students and staff and tackling tasks, each student brought their own unique style to the role.

I must admit, they all did such a fantastic job that I may need to watch my position closely! Thank you to our amazing student leaders for bringing so much joy, energy and laughter to the week.

Snapshot of Learning

Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope for Heart kicks off this term at Boneo Primary School!
Jump Rope for Heart is the Heart Foundation’s primary school skipping challenge that helps kids move more, have fun, and raise funds for life-saving research and programs.
This year we’ve got an audacious goal to see our student Heart Heroes at Boneo Primary School to log 20 hours of skipping throughout the program!
Register your child online, so they can receive the full benefits of the program and participate in online fundraising, simply follow the link below to get started. www.jumprope.org.au/parents
Students will be skipping throughout the term in PE lessons and given the opportunity to do so during lunch and recess breaks, during this time you can share their online fundraising page with family and friends to help raise money for this great cause.
We will hold our school Jump Off Day on Friday 12th June, this will mark the end of the program and is a chance for everyone to come together to skip and show off their newly learned skills.
Thank you for supporting the Jump Rope for Heart program!
