Boneo Buzz 7th March

Dear Parents and Carers,

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the parents, carers and family members who joined us for our ‘Share the Joy of Learning,’ this morning. It was a pleasure to welcome you into our classrooms and share the incredible learning journey of our students. Seeing the excitement on the faces of our students as they proudly showcased their work was truly special. From reading together to enjoying hands-on activities to thoughtful reflections on their learning, your children demonstrated the dedication and enthusiasm they bring to their education every day. Events like these highlight the strong partnership between home and school, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in education. Your engagement—whether through asking questions, celebrating achievements or simply taking the time to listen—makes a significant difference in their educational journey.

I also want to acknowledge the efforts of our teachers and education support staff, who work tirelessly to create engaging and supportive learning environments. Their dedication ensures that every child has the opportunity to thrive.

We look forward to many more opportunities to celebrate student success together.

Naplan – Years 3 and 5

Next Wednesday marks the beginning of NAPLAN assessments for our Year 3 and 5 students. NAPLAN provides a valuable snapshot of student progress in literacy and numeracy and is just one of many tools we use to understand where our students are in their learning journey and how we can best support them. While the insights gained from NAPLAN are important, it is essential to remember that this assessment does not define a child’s abilities, character or potential.

We encourage our Year 3 and 5 students to approach NAPLAN with confidence and a positive mindset, knowing that their best effort is all we ask for. Our dedicated teachers have been preparing students throughout the year, ensuring they feel familiar with the test format while fostering a calm and supportive learning environment.

Evacuation Drill Feedback

At Boneo Primary School, safety is our top priority, and yesterday’s evacuation drill demonstrated preparedness and teamwork. From start to finish, students and staff demonstrated a calm, efficient and well-coordinated response, ensuring a smooth and successful drill.

From the moment the alarm sounded, everyone followed procedures with focus and cooperation. Teachers and Education Support staff guided students swiftly to assembly areas, and staff ensured accountability and safety.

One of the most impressive aspects of this drill was the sense of confidence and reassurance it fostered among our students. By practising these procedures, we empower our school community to respond effectively in the event of a real emergency. We will continue to conduct regular drills, ensuring that our school remains a secure environment where learning and growth can thrive.

Boneo Community Market – requesting volunteers

I am calling out for volunteers for the next two Boneo Community markets, with a particular focus on the April market. Thank you to families who have already volunteered – this will assist with planning and logistics. I understand that the April market falls on the final weekend of the term holidays, which may impact availability, so please volunteer via the Conferences option on Compass or contact the office directly so that the school can make appropriate arrangements.

Your support is greatly appreciated.

Family, Food & Fun Night

Our most anticipated event of the year, Family Food and Fun Night, is just around the corner! Mark your calendars and get ready for an evening filled with laughter, delicious food, and exciting activities for the whole family. This event is a wonderful way for us to come together as a community. It is also an important fundraiser for our school with the money raised being put toward school improvement projects and classroom resources.

Parent volunteers are required to help run class stalls on the night. Bookings will be made available via Compass conferences from Tuesday.

We will be holding a Silent Auction on the night and are currently seeking donations, big and small, from local businesses. If you have your own business and would like to donate, please contact the Office.

Wristbands will go on sale soon, please keep your eyes out for further information!

We wish to acknowledge ‘The Kitchen’ (Coley Family), who are returning for another year on the Curry Stall. Bob and his staff are preparing the food and will be in attendance on the night for service. Please be sure to say hi to the ‘Kitchen’ team who will be located in the hall and thank them for supporting our school.
