Boneo Buzz 4th July

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach the school holidays, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our entire school community for a marvellous Term 2.

It has been a term filled with rich learning and memorable experiences. From camps, excursions, sporting events and our much-loved Mother’s Day Stall—there has been no shortage of opportunities for students to engage, grow and connect. Alongside these highlights, countless meaningful moments have taken place within classrooms and across year levels, reflecting the dedication of our staff and the enthusiasm of our students.

To our students—thank you for your positivity, effort and willingness to embrace new challenges. You continue to make us proud.

To our families—your ongoing support plays a vital role in the success of our school and is deeply appreciated.

And to our staff—thank you for your commitment to providing a safe, inclusive and inspiring learning environment every day.

Wishing all families a safe, happy and restful holiday break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Mon 21st July for an exciting and productive Term 3.

A warm farewell to Jen Scott

As we finish the term, we also take a moment to farewell Jen Scott. Jen has been a valued member of our Boneo Primary School community for many years, and her care and dedication have left a lasting impression on both students and staff. Jen’s ability to build strong connections, her calm and kind approach, and her genuine commitment to student wellbeing have been appreciated. Jen’s impact will be remembered fondly by the many children and families she has supported during her time with us.

While we are sad to see her go, we are also excited for what lies ahead and wish her every success and happiness as she takes the next step in her journey.

Boneo Market – BBQ and Car Parking Update

Moving forward, Boneo Primary School will run the BBQ stall at the Boneo Market four times a year—in December, March, June and November. We are currently in discussions with the Cricket Club and Tennis Club to potentially support the remaining months.

We will continue to coordinate car parking at every market, as this remains a vital fundraiser for our school. These funds go directly towards enhancing classroom programs and resources for our students.

We are now calling for volunteers to assist with Car Parking on Saturday 19 July. If you’re able to help, please book your spot via Compass—your time and support make a real difference.

Thank you for your continued commitment to our school community. Together, we can ensure these fundraising efforts remain successful and impactful.

Holiday Works

During the school holidays, important buildings and grounds work will be carried out to ensure our facilities remain safe, functional and welcoming for all students and staff. These works include:

  • Roof works to remove debris, lichen and moss build-up
  • Gutter cleaning
  • Painting of poles in the playground for student safety
  • Sandpit upgrade
  • Replacing retaining walls in the playground.

These works are essential in maintaining a high-quality learning environment that supports student wellbeing and engagement.

Principals for the Day

Thank you to both Grayson S and Jack L for being amazing Principals and helping with a range of important tasks.

Snapshot of Learning

Cyber Academy

During Term 2, 3B attended Cyber Academy each week with Kieren.

The focus of the learning was to work as team with a team leader facilitating the plan for each week’s lesson. We learnt how to create secure passwords, how to make a firewall and about IP addresses.

We formed a blue team and a red team. The intention was to create a safe and secure castle that had hidden treasure that was well protected by layers of security such as, lava, powdered snow, red stone, traps and lots of walls with mazes.

Each person in the team had a role to contribute to the creation of the castle.

The end goal was to break into each other’s castle and locate the treasure by avoiding the traps and breaking through the security.

We had our final battle this week and blue team was victorious, with Memphis, their leader, locating the red team’s treasure.

“It was fun and challenging” – Buddy

“I was able to be creative” – Olive

“We had to work as a team” – Albie

“It was a good opportunity to show your creativeness” – Nic

“It was tricky but fun” – Hunter

“It was a bit challenging but so much fun to do” – Will

“The team work between each other was awesome, we can achieve anything” -Memphis

Year 4 Kitchen and Garden

‘The Year 4 students worked hard in the kitchen this week, making a delicious tea loaf with apple and zucchini. They also made a brine for the olives they picked at the beginning of the term. 4A students have been washing these 3 times a week to prepare them for the brining stage.’

Jump Rope For Heart

On behalf of the National Heart Foundation and the Jump Rope for Heart team:

We would like to thank you for your hard work this term! We were blown away by your effort and enthusiasm to raise important funds AND improving your skipping skills!

Thank you Video

At the end of the program Boneo Primary School finished with the following numbers:

  • 47 Students registered
  • 46 Hours of skipping logged.
  •  $1,765 Raised

These Funds will go a long way at the Heart Foundation. Helping to fund:

  • Research on heart disease and how we can work towards preventing it,
  • Doctors who can help treat people with sick hearts, and
  • Education, so Australians know how to take care of their hearts and bodies.

Even though your school has finished Jump Rope for Heart this year, we hope you all continue to practice your skipping and exercise your heart every day. By doing this, you continue to be a Heart Hero and help the Heart Foundation achieve our goal of a heart disease free Australia.

Thank you again for your hard work and generous support. We look forward to skipping with you and your school community again soon.
