Boneo Buzz 31st October

Dear Parents and Carers,

Today we join schools across the country in celebrating World Teachers’ Day — a day to recognise and thank our wonderful teachers for the passion, care and dedication they bring to their work each and every day.

This year’s theme, “Recasting teaching as a collaborative profession,” perfectly reflects the spirit of our school. At Boneo Primary, our teachers embody our core values of Respect, Empathy and Determination in all that they do. They work together to create a supportive, inclusive and inspiring environment where every student is valued and encouraged to reach their potential.

We see daily examples of our teachers going above and beyond – designing engaging and challenging learning experiences, building meaningful relationships and fostering a strong sense of belonging in every classroom. Their collaboration and commitment make Boneo a vibrant learning community.

Happy World Teachers’ Day!

Calling on Parents and Carers for our School Review Forum

As part of our School Review process, we’re inviting parents and carers to participate in a Parent Forum. This will be held onsite at school on Tuesday, 18 November at 8:45am and will run for approximately 30 minutes.

If you’re available and would like to take part, please contact the office at your earliest convenience to book your spot.

The Resilience Project

Our students have been participating in The Resilience Project, exploring the key principles of gratitude, empathy and mindfulness to support their wellbeing and positive mental health.

To complement this, we’re excited to host a Parent and Carer Information Session run by The Resilience Project on Wednesday 19 November – children are welcome to attend.

Join us for a Sausage Sizzle at 5.30pm (gold coin donation), followed by the session at 6.00pm. Bookings are essential and can be made via TryBooking – the link will be sent through Compass.

Curriculum Day Reminder – Monday

A reminder that this Monday is a Curriculum Day. While students will be at home, staff will be on-site engaging in professional learning focused on high-impact teaching practices through the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, and continuing our work on Positive Classroom Management Strategies. This important professional learning will help shape our teaching and learning approach in 2026, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our students.

Swimming feedback

I was so proud to receive such positive feedback from Yawa about our students and their engagement in the swimming program. They encouraged one another, were respectful and showed determination to improve their skills. Staff from Yawa congratulated us on the wonderful attitude and behaviour our students demonstrated throughout the program over the last few weeks.

I would like to especially thank Katie Reid, Jon Reid and Piet Van Hooydonk for supporting our school by driving students to and from swimming every day for the last three weeks. This has helped keep the cost of swimming down by a significant amount of money and our whole community appreciates this support.

Thank You to Oaks Day Sponsors

School Fun Run- Thursday 13th November

We’re already two weeks into our fantastic fundraiser, and the excitement is building! Our upcoming School Fun Run is in less than 2 weeks and promises to be a day of fun!

We are now up to just over $8,000 in our fundraising so well done to everyone and let’s keep going!

The Wristband Competition winner is Luna S. Congratulations Luna!

At next week’s assembly, we are going to hold a random draw competition. Any student who has raised over $100 will go into the draw with 20 students winning a hot chips lunch with Mrs Pandza.

Today saw our first 4 brave staff get slimed with Mr Daniel, Ms Falkenberg, Miss Richardson and Mrs Webber having buckets of slime poured over them to rapturous cheers from the students, staff and families at our assembly.

4 more staff members will have their turn in the slime pool next week!

Remember, there’s still time to get involved! Sign up at funrun.com.au and share your fundraising link far and wide.

Year 1 Crazy Hair Day

As winners of the Boneo Buck reward, 1A were almost unrecognisable with their wonderfully creative hair designs.

Regional Athletics

Matilda M, Amelia H, Archie S, Jordie M, Anabelle R and Essie W made Boneo PS proud at the recent Regional Athletics, with all putting in great performances in their event/s.

Congratulations to Archie S and Amelia H who have progressed through to the State Athletics competition in a few weeks, after finishing in the top 2 in their age groups at Regionals. Archie leapt a whopping 1m 40cm in his high jump competition which is incredible.

We wish both all the best at the upcoming State finals.

Don’t Read like a Robot

Our Year 3 students uplifted all of us this morning at the Share Assembly with their ‘Don’t read like a robot’ song, reminding us all of the importance of reading with expression.
