Boneo Buzz: 31st January

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to the 2025 School Year!

We are pleased to share that the start to the new school year has been exceptionally positive, with all students transitioning smoothly into their new classes. It has been truly uplifting to see their enthusiasm and engagement as they embrace the year ahead. I would like to formally welcome all of our prep students to Boneo Primary School and congratulate everyone on a smooth and successful transition, with a special mention to our new families.

Year 6 Student Leaders

Today we had our Leadership Assembly where we celebrated our Year 6 Student Leaders and presented them with their leadership badges. We eagerly anticipate their growth and meaningful contributions to our school community.

Parent Information Evening

Our Parent Information Evening will be held onsite on Wednesday 5th February, where you can hear all about the learning program on offer for your children. Our specialist teachers will be running a repeat of their session so that parents and carers have an opportunity to attend one of the two sessions being offered.

5.30-6pm: Year 1 and 2

6-6.30pm: Year 3 and 4

Staffing update

We say farewell to Stella White who has accepted a Business Manager position over the break. We will certainly miss her at Boneo, and genuinely wish her all the very best with this exciting new chapter.

Congratulations to Megan Lowerson and her beautiful family who welcomed the safe arrival of their precious bundle of joy, Lulu, over the holidays.

Talking the Talk – Respectful Relationships, Human Sexuality and Body Safety Presentation

Sexuality and consent education are part of the Victorian Curriculum, mandated for Government and Catholic schools in Victoria. The teaching of consent in all government schools in an age-appropriate way from Foundation to Year 12 is mandatory. Guidance and resources are available to support schools in educating students on consent. At Boneo, students participate in this learning through the ‘Talking the Talk’ program. An online information session for parents and carers has been organised for Monday 3 March at 8:00pm so please pencil this date into your calendars. Log-in details will be sent via Compass.

Road Safety

The safety of all our community members is an absolute priority for us at Boneo, as such, it is pleasing to see so many families using our designated areas for drop off and pick up. I ask all parents to follow the council directed traffic flow system for drop off and pick up outlined below:

  • On the tennis court side of the school enter via Boneo Road and exit at Limestone Road. We have a one-way traffic system.
  • Only park in allocated spaces. Please do not create your own parking bay – it is unsafe.
  • Keep the accessible parking bays free for those who need this space.
  • Please do not park near the designated bus pick up on Limestone Road. This is a legal requirement and the shire will be enforcing this.

Reminders

  • Please keep reading the Buzz each week. Teachers also send a weekly ‘Preview to Learning’ via Compass to share information about the upcoming week.
  • As a SunSmart school, hats are required when the UV rating is 3 or above. Please ensure that your child has their hat at school so that they can enjoy working or playing outdoors.
  • School starts at 8.45am. Anyone who arrives after the 8.45am bell needs to sign in at the Office. There are staff on yard duty from 8.30am.
  • Dogs are not able to be on school grounds so please keep them on the oval on a lead in regular school hours.

School Photography Day

We have our school photography day booked for Tuesday 11th February with SchoolPix.

Order forms will be sent home with students today, Friday 31st January. Please check your child’s school bag for this information.

A Message from Advanced Promotional Clothing

We were advised by our suppliers of a price increase effective the 15th January 2025. To maintain the quality of our garments and to continue to use this supplier, regretfully we have no option but to increase the price of some Boneo uniform items. We have endeavoured to keep this price increase to a minimum for your school.

Thank you for your understanding,

The Team at Advanced Promotional Clothing
