Boneo Buzz 30th May
Dear Parents and Carers,
We were delighted yesterday to welcome our Executive Director, SEIL and principals from neighbouring schools for Learning Walks through our classrooms. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the engaging learning environments and strong instructional practices across our school. The positive feedback received was a testament to the dedication of our staff and the engagement of our students. It was a moment of pride and celebration for our whole school community.
We continue to prioritise a positive whole-school climate where every student feels safe, supported and ready to learn. A key part of this work is ensuring calm and productive learning environments through consistent classroom routines and clear expectations. This way, students understand what is expected of them and are encouraged to take ownership of their learning. These consistent practices help maximise valuable learning time and contribute to a strong sense of safety and belonging across the school.
We also encourage families to have conversations at home about the importance of respectful and safe behaviour—both at school and online. When school and home work together, we create a stronger foundation for our students to thrive socially, emotionally and academically.
Curriculum Day – Friday 6 June
This coming Friday is a whole school Curriculum Day and students are not required at school on this day. Our staff will be engaging in professional learning focused on the latest educational research, including the updated Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM 2.0). By investing time in this shared learning, we continue to build a consistent and high-quality approach across the school—ensuring the best outcomes for all of our students.

A Special Thank You
We would like to sincerely thank Woody Hourigan and his family for their generous donation of a 3D printer to our school for the STEM room. This amazing contribution is already making a big difference to our students’ learning, giving them the chance to bring their ideas to life through design and innovation. Our Year 1/2 students are becoming experts at TinkerCAD – designing name tags, cities, castles and more! A very big thank you again.
TREC- Pizza Professionals
This week in TREC, the Year 5/6 “Kids Kitchen” crew got busy perfecting their pizza-making skills. We had a special guest, Lyla’s mum Zoe, who showed us how to make the best pizza dough ever.
Everyone had a blast kneading, rolling, and stretching their dough like pros. Then came the best part—topping the pizzas with yummy ingredients and eating them for lunch!
A huge thank you to Zoe and her little helper Miles for making our morning so fun with the best pizza.

People and places help make a community
On Thursday the Preps had a visit from the Boneo CFA and the Rosebud Fire Brigade as part of this term’s inquiry, ‘People and places help make a community.’
They had so much fun!
Finger Board Crew – We Need Your Help!
Hi Boneo Community,
We’re a crew of young skateboarders working together to create our very own Finger Board skatepark but we can’t do it without your help!
We’re looking for donations of the following materials:
- Plywood
- Wire
- Hot glue sticks
- Nails
- Tools (any kind)
- Metal rods
- Thick timber offcuts
- Black spray paint
We’re also hoping someone in our community might be able to help us build the track. While we’re keen to do as much as we can ourselves, we’d love to learn more about building, like following designs and creating different shapes.
If you have some time and a Working With Children Check, please email Ms Brown at:
Stacey.Brown3@education.vic.gov.au
Thanks for supporting our building dreams!

Flying High
As part of their aeronautical engineering unit, our Year 4 students were thrilled to welcome a special guest – one of our very own Year 4 parents, Matt Luscombe, a helicopter pilot! He shared incredible videos from the cockpit, explained the forces of flight and the parts of a helicopter, and guided the students through making their own paper helicopters to receive a ‘junior pilot’ certificate at the end. It was a hands-on, high-flying experience the students won’t forget.
A big thank you to Matt, for inspiring the next generation of engineers and aviators!
