Boneo Buzz 29th August
Dear Parents and Carers,
As part of our work with The Resilience Project, our school community has been focusing on empathy – the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. Empathy is a powerful skill that helps children build stronger relationships, show kindness and create a more connected and supportive environment both at school and at home.
Through classroom activities, stories and discussions from The Resilience Project, students are learning what it means to “step into someone else’s shoes.” They are exploring how their words and actions can impact others and how simple acts of kindness can make a big difference. Developing empathy not only supports positive friendships but also builds resilience, as students learn to respond to challenges with care and understanding.
At home, you can encourage empathy by talking about feelings, asking reflective questions like “How do you think that made your friend feel?” or modelling kindness in everyday interactions. Small moments of empathy can create lasting change in how children see and support the people around them. I encourage you to watch the video from TRP on empathy.
2025 Parent & Carer Hub – Inspire 1 – The Resilience Project
Together, by focusing on empathy, gratitude, and mindfulness, we can continue to build a community where every student feels valued, respected, and supported to thrive.
2025 Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey (reminder)
A reminder that our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Tuesday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. Login details were sent via Compass.
Snapshot of Learning
Year 6 Quantum Excursion
This week, Year 6 students visited Quantum Victoria to participate in a Lego Robotics and Minecraft Sustainable Practices of First Nations People workshop. Both classes experienced a range of challenges and showed determination when building upon skills to achieve an end goal.
Kitchen Garden Group
On Thursday the 4th of September at 3pm, near the oval, the Kitchen Garden Group will be selling positive, nature-themed bookmarks.
We will be raising money for Save the Bees Australia, a charity that works to protect bees and spread awareness about how important bees are.
Did you know that 1 in every 3 bites of food we eat is thanks to bee pollination? So please come along, grab one of our beautiful bookmarks (and some tasty food too), and help us make a difference!
