Boneo Buzz 27th March
Dear Parents and Carers,
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful community for making last week’s annual, ‘Family, Food and Fun Night’, such an outstanding success! It was fantastic to see so many families come together, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and the shared sense of joy that filled the evening. We are incredibly grateful to the many local businesses and families who generously donated their time, products and services to support the evening whose contributions made a significant difference and helped ensure the event was both enjoyable and successful. Funds raised from the event will go towards enhancing classroom resources, including the purchase of new devices and equipment for our SPARK room. Total raised coming soon.. Watch this space.
A special thank you must also go to our dedicated staff, whose energy, organisation and enthusiasm helped create such a memorable experience for our students and families. Our teachers and Education Support staff worked tirelessly in the lead-up to the event and throughout the evening -planning, preparing, setting up stalls, supporting activities and, most importantly, engaging so warmly with our students and families. I would also like to acknowledge Amanda and Kellie for their outstanding work behind the scenes in coordinating the many moving parts of the event. Their efforts are truly appreciated.
Thank you once again for your continued support and commitment to our wonderful school.
Division Swimming – Yawa
I would like to congratulate our students who proudly represented our school at the Division Swimming Carnival held at Yawa this week. It was wonderful to drop in and see Boneo students representing the school with such pride and enthusiasm.
Well done to all students involved!
MHiPS – Community Matters: Growing happy kids, together!
At Boneo, we believe it takes a community to help children feel safe, confident, and ready to learn. And the best part? Families and teachers can make a pretty amazing team.
As a parent, carer or guardian, you’re the person who knows your child best — you see their quirks, their rhythms, and the little changes that tell you when something’s off. At school, teachers and support staff add another piece to the puzzle. Teachers spend almost 1,300 hours a year with your child, they notice different kinds of clues throughout the day too. They see them in a whole range of moments — learning time, playtime, group work, and the busy transitions in between.
In these settings, teachers sometimes notice things that don’t always show up at home: a child hanging back from friends, finding it harder to concentrate, getting frustrated more quickly, or needing extra reassurance during the day. They might spot a child who struggles with transitions, seems unusually quiet, or shows a pattern of worries at the same time each day. These small clues can help us understand when a child might be carrying some big feelings.
As previously noted, families bring the superpower of knowing their child best! You understand what’s happening at home, what routines help your child feel calm, and what is needed to help them shine!
When we put these two pieces together, it increases their safety net. Children benefit from a strong, consistent support system. Regular communication—whether through a brief conversation at pick-up, a written note, or a courteous email—helps ensure that families and teachers remain aligned and able to support each child in a steady, coordinated way.
Most importantly, kids notice when the grown-ups in their world are working as a team. It tells them, “You’re surrounded by people who care about you.” And that feeling—being held by a whole community—is one of the strongest foundations for good mental health.
