Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to all families who have taken the opportunity to book their Student Led Conference for next week. Conferences will be held on Tuesday 30th July and Wednesday 31st July. Please take the opportunity to make a booking if you have not already done so. You will need to complete a booking via Compass with each of your child/ren’s teachers. The children are very excited to share their learning with you.

NAPLAN results

Last week we received our preliminary 2024 NAPLAN results. While we are yet to receive our school comparison against the state results, it was wonderful to see that our Year 3 data is above schools with a similar demographic to ours, and schools in our network, in reading, numeracy, grammar and punctuation, and spelling. Our Year 5 results show that we are above similar schools and the network in numeracy and grammar and punctuation. Congratulations to all our students.

Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey

We will be conducting The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey to find out what our community thinks of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement.

We encourage all families to participate in this survey so that our school can use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. The survey will be open from Monday 29 July to Friday 30th August 2024.

Parents/Carers/Guardians will receive a Compass notification containing a password to access the anonymous survey.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

Accessible parking reminder

A reminder that the Accessible Car Parking in the School Car Park near the Tennis Courts is designed for those who have an Accessible Parking Sticker on their car. Please do not park in these spots unless you have the correct sticker.

Farewell

We say farewell to Kate Atkinson who has been successful in obtaining a teaching position at Rosebud Secondary College. Kate’s last day in the office will be Wednesday 31 July. Whilst we will certainly miss her, we wish her well in the next phase of her career.

Year 2 Forces Incursion

On Tuesday, July 23rd, our Year 2 students had a fantastic learning experience during their incursion on Forces. The day was filled with engaging activities focused on exploring concepts like friction and gravity. Through hands-on learning opportunities, our young learners not only gained knowledge but also had a blast solidifying their understanding of these fundamental principles.

Year 3 Park Ranger Visit

Harry the Park Ranger visited our Year 3 students to discuss the laws and rules governing Victoria’s National Parks, and everyone had a great time!
