Boneo Buzz 24th October

Dear Parents and Carers,

Next week marks the beginning of our School Review, an important process that takes place every four years. The review is a valuable opportunity to reflect on our achievements, celebrate our progress and identify key areas for growth to ensure we continue to deliver the best possible learning outcomes for our students.

The focus of this review will be on how effectively our school:

· Promotes high levels of student learning growth and engagement.

· Implements consistent and evidence-based teaching practices across all classrooms.

· Builds collective teacher efficacy through collaboration, professional learning and shared instructional approaches.

· Fosters student voice and agency to empower learners to take ownership of their progress.

· Embeds our school values and vision in daily practice, ensuring a safe, inclusive and connected community for all.

· Fosters positive student wellbeing.

The review process will involve classroom visits, student and staff focus groups, and discussions with families to gain a full picture of our school’s strengths and opportunities for improvement.

We look forward to sharing the outcomes of the review and the strategic directions that will guide our work over the next four years.

RSL Poppies

Rosebud RSL have supplied Boneo PS with Remembrance Day pins to help support Australian Veterans.

These are available for purchase at the school office for $2 each (while stocks last), before and after school hours.

Share your views to help make schools safer

The Department of Education is inviting parents and carers to take part in an online survey. The survey seeks views on how the department can best protect school communities from harmful behaviour by parents and carers, and other adults:

· on school grounds and other places school activities happen

· online including social media.

Harmful behaviours can include abusive, aggressive and disruptive behaviours, including on social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp.

The survey will help the department:

· better understand community attitudes around this issue

· seek input on whether stronger protections are needed for school communities. The survey closes at 11:59 pm on Monday 10 November 2025 and can be accessed here: Keeping school staff safe onsite and online | Engage Victoria

Principal for the Day

This week, Taylor M had the exciting opportunity to step into the role of Principal for the Day – and what a fantastic job she did!

Taylah worked alongside Mrs Pandza, supporting a range of important tasks across the school. She helped run literacy groups, sorted Boneo Bucks for our rewards program, and delivered toothbrushes, toothpaste and water bottles kindly donated by our local dentists. Taylah also assisted with administration tasks related to our transition program, showing great organisation and leadership skills throughout the day.

Oaks Day 2025

Oaks Day preparations are now in full swing, and numbers will need to be confirmed with the venue by Thursday 30th October.

The continued success of this major fundraising event is testament to our incredibly generous extended community. The event is supported by a far-reaching range of community stakeholders and we are extremely grateful for their support.

A very special thank you to our local business community for their continued support of our school. We have acknowledged some of these businesses below.

Year 4 Camp

What an amazing time the Year 4 students had on camp last week! We hope you enjoy reading some of our reflections and looking through our photos that capture the highlights of our adventure.

Year 4 Camp – By Darby M

On Wednesday, 15th October, the Year 4s went to Golden Valleys.

My first activity was the giant swing — this was my favourite! I was third in line and of course I went right to the top where you get an amazing view. When you drop, your stomach drops too, but after that it’s smooth sailing.

My second activity was rock climbing, and I made it to the top in just 30 seconds!

My third activity was hut building, I was in a group with Jack, Jaxon and Grayson — we built the best hut!

My fourth activity was archery. This was really fun! I got two bullseyes and three nines.

My fifth activity was Lego Masters. I made a two-storey café.

My last activity was ziplining. I went third and got two goes — it was so much fun!

My dad also went on the zip line and he screamed a lot!

I rate camp 4 stars!

Year 4 Camp- By Thomas R

On Wednesday, 15th October 2025, the Year 4 cohort went to Golden Valleys Camp. First, we were put into groups for our activities. I was in a group with my dad, Miss Mac, and some of my friends.

My favourite activity was either the zip line or the giant swing. I was the first one in line for the giant swing, and I went all the way to the top. While I was up there, I saw heaps of kangaroos!

I had a great time and would probably go back.

I give it a 3.5-star rating!

Kitchen Garden Crew

On the 23rd of November, the Rosebud Community Garden will be hosting a Sustainable Scarecrow Competition. Our Year 6 Garden Group was lucky enough to be invited, and we need your help!
If you are able to help contribute to our scarecrow building, please bring in any of the following to the Year 6 rooms.
 Thankyou in advance!

District Softball

This week the years 4 to 6 Softballers attended District Softball at Mornington. Both teams did their best and had a great day. Both teams demonstrated the RED values, supporting each other and their opponents through the highs and lows of the day. Thank you to Mrs Richer for driving the bus and being an excellent coach for the girls’ team. Thank you also to Ms Richardson for being a fabulous coach.
