Boneo Buzz 19th September

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is hard to believe we have already reached the end of Term 3. It has been a busy and productive term, filled with valuable learning and many achievements across the school. I want to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of our staff, who have continued to provide rich learning opportunities for our students while also preparing for our upcoming whole school review in Term 4.

The review is a significant milestone for our school community. It gives us the chance to reflect on and celebrate the progress and successes of the past four years, acknowledging the collective efforts of students, staff and families. It is also a forward-looking process, where we will draw on data from a range of sources to identify our strengths and opportunities for growth, ensuring that we set a clear and purposeful direction for the next four years.

Thank you to all our families for your ongoing support throughout the term. We wish everyone a safe, happy and relaxing holiday, and we look forward to welcoming you back when school resumes on Monday 6 October.

House Footy Day

Thank you to David Greening for organising another successful House Footy Day. It was such a fantastic event that brought our school community together. The energy and enthusiasm on the oval were infectious, with students proudly embracing their team colours and enjoying their preferred strand of football. Days like this highlight the importance of teamwork and participation, and it was wonderful to see so many smiling faces, cheering and supporting one another.

Sushi Day

A warm thank you to our active School Council for organising another successful Sushi Day. We greatly appreciate the time and effort that went into making the day such a success. This is a wonderful fundraiser for the school, and we appreciate everyone’s support.

Trivia Night

What a fantastic night we had at our Trivia Night last weekend! The energy in the room was incredible, with lots of laughter, friendly competition and plenty of brain-teasing questions to keep everyone on their toes. It was a wonderful way to bring our school community together for an evening of fun and connection.
A huge thank you to our School Council for organising such a successful event, and to Jess Hennessey and family, Josie Pierce, Tom, Amanda, and Kellie for their support with the set up and pack up. A huge thank you to Lee Beckett for volunteering his time to prepare the wonderful questions and run the evening for us.
Events like this really highlight the strength of our community spirit at Boneo – thank you to all who attended.

Snapshot of Learning

Wellbeing in Year 1

Year 1A students had to work in teams to create the best outfit for their model.

We were pretty chuffed with the outcome!

Year 3 Ecosystems website

During Term 3, students explored the big idea of ‘Life Cycles of Plants and Animals Shape Ecosystems’. Through guided research, the students gained a general understanding of ecosystems, living and non- living things and producers, consumers and decomposers. Students worked together in small groups to investigate these understandings specific to their group’s ecosystem of either desert, coral reef, tundra, wetland, rainforest or savannah. They worked in their groups to create a diorama of their ecosystem, demonstrating the key areas of learning.

Wheelchair Incursion

Students in Year 6 had the wonderful opportunity to participate in a wheelchair incursion this week. This supported the ongoing work throughout the school on inclusion and everyone had a great time.

Prep Excursion to the Cranbourne Botanic Garden

On Tuesday, the Preps were lucky enough to visit the Cranbourne Botanic Gardens for their Term 3 excursion. They had the opportunity to take part in a range of activities that encouraged them to use their five senses to explore animals and plants. Students also developed their understanding of Aboriginal respect for Country and connection to culture. They touched items such as snake skin and possum fur, tasted lemon myrtle tea and painted with ochre. Everyone had a wonderful day!
