Boneo Buzz 18th December
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to the final school newsletter for 2025. As we take the time to reflect on the year, it is clear that this year has been both a significant and memorable year for Boneo Primary School.

2026 Students Leaders
Over the past few weeks, I have been overseeing the student leadership selection process to find our 2026 school leaders, and I am pleased to announce the results of our rigorous selection process.
Leadership is a quality that all students at Boneo Primary School are encouraged and supported to develop. Through the curriculum and extra curricula activities, all students are encouraged to develop the skills necessary to be a leader. This ensures that all students perceive themselves as leaders and have the opportunity and confidence to take on leadership roles.
Student leadership roles foster the development of both interpersonal and intrapersonal skills, including communication, negotiation, teamwork and self-reflection. Additionally, students are encouraged to become active and reflective listeners, enabling them to respond effectively and collaborate with others to identify and achieve shared goals.
The current School Captains worked with me to develop interview questions, a selection rubric and follow up discussions to ensure fairness and integrity throughout the entire process. Our Year 5 applicants prepared written applications and then interviewed for the positions they had applied for or shared their speeches with their House. I was incredibly impressed with all of our students!
Congratulations once again to our 2026 Year 6 Leaders! We look forward to witnessing the positive impact they will undoubtedly make in the coming year. Badges will be presented at our first assembly for 2026.

Graduation
On Monday evening, our Year 6 students celebrated the conclusion of their primary schooling at their Year 6 Graduation. It was a truly special evening, and the students shone throughout the celebration. Their speeches were a highlight of the night, beautifully capturing their reflections, memories and individual personalities.
I would like to sincerely congratulate all of our staff who have supported the students throughout the year and helped them prepare for the evening.
To our Year 6 students, and all families who will be leaving Boneo, we wish you all the very best for the future and thank you for your continued support during your time at Boneo Primary School.
Capital Works Fund
I am delighted to share that our school has been successful in securing a Capital Works Grant to upgrade the student bathrooms. This is wonderful news for our school community, and I am thrilled about the positive impact this will have for our students. I will be meeting with the project manager during the holidays and will keep everyone informed of timelines and key dates as further details become available.
TheirCare – Thank you Boneo
As this term comes to an end, I would like to take a moment to say a heartfelt goodbye to the wonderful school community.
Being part of the Boneo OHSC program has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences for me. I will miss every single child so much and have absolutely loved coming to Boneo each day to spend time with them. From busy afternoons and special celebrations to quiet conversations and lots of laughter, these moments have meant more to me than I can put into words. Watching the children grow in confidence, form friendships, and express themselves has been an incredible privilege.
I would like to sincerely thank the families for your ongoing support and trust, and the school staff for your guidance, collaboration, and kindness. The sense of community within the Boneo school is something I will always be grateful for.
Boneo will forever hold a very special place in my heart, and although it is time for me to move on, I will carry these memories with me always. I wish all children, families, and staff nothing but the very best for the future.
Kindest regards,
Lucy.
Snapshot of Learning
Toorak College Horse Show
Elsie proudly represented Boneo Primary School at the Toorak College Horse Show. She competed on her pony, Bertie, and together they were the youngest competitors in their classes. Elsie and Bertie performed beautifully, achieving an outstanding result of two first places and two fourth places.
They are now looking forward to competing at the Victorian Championships in 2026!
Nepean Shield Presentation
Sam Groth attended our Graduation ceremony this week to present the Nepean Shield to Year 6 student Poppy A. The Nepean Shield recognises students who embody the values and beliefs that help drive their community forward.
Congratulations Poppy.
Darts Championships
Over the last few weeks, we have held our final lunchtime competition of 2025 with our annual school Darts Championships taking place. There were 162 entries from our year 3 – 6 students and some brilliant action on the oche with so many close matches going down to one dart shoot outs. Darting drama was everywhere!
The competition finished with an incredible final between two very talented players with Dylan B taking the trophy with a 3-1 win over double defending champion Marley H with Georgia B edging Archer S for 3rd. Well done to everyone involved and to our house captains who did a magnificent job helping to run the event.
The top 4 students will receive their ribbons at the final assembly this week.
Darts has really taken off at Boneo over the last few years, and I am expecting Santa to be inundated with dartboard requests for Christmas from the children this year!
Year 6 Big Day Out
On Wednesday, the Year 6 students went to Top Fun Shack for their big day out. Lots of laughs, strikes and holes in ones across both classes. Thank you to Mrs Presti, Leanna, Donna and Jacinta for driving us, and to Kellie for delivering our hot chip lunch.
Year 3- Exploring the world
This term the Year 3 students have been learning about the geographical divisions of the world and exploring major cities, landmarks, population and climate in each continent. Students explored a continent in small groups and created a fact file. They then chose a country of their choice from any continent and created a fact file. Students got creative and made a collage showing lots of key aspects of their country or a major landmark. Enjoy some pictures of the students completing their puzzles and sharing them with their peers.
