Boneo Buzz: 17th December
Dear Parents and Guardians,
What a year it’s been! To say we have faced challenges would be an understatement, however we are very grateful that our school life is returning to normal and we’ve been able to come together to enjoy many of our traditional end of year events, albeit in a modified fashion. I’d like to congratulate our families for your work this year in supporting your children during Remote Learning and one of the longest and strictest lockdowns in the World. Thank you also for supporting our staff as we worked together to optimise your children’s teaching and learning programs through online platforms. Congratulations also to the students who did their very best to stay connected to their peers and engage in Remote and Flexible Learning and the staff for their commitment to adapt to the ever changing operational guidelines and using new technologies to teach our students. A huge thank you to our wonderful parents for the scrumptious staff morning tea. We loved it!
Traditionally, we acknowledge leaving staff and celebrate the Year 6 Class of 2020 at our final assembly. Tomorrow, we plan to hold an outdoor assembly to allow parents to join us at 12:15pm on the basketball court. To ensure we are compliant with updated DET guidelines, I ask families for your support to remain socially distanced and spread out on the basketball courts. Please feel free to join us.
Year 6 Graduation
Graduation Tuesday night celebrated our Year 6 Graduates and it was a terrific evening! Our graduates were able to invite a guest each, and other friends and family members were able to enjoy a livestreaming of the event via the Boneo Primary School Facebook. We even had audience members overseas ..….. a first for us! Our graduates have been excellent students and truly embody our school values. Graduation is a celebration of the students’ primary school years and whilst this year has been interrupted and unique in our history, we remember our graduates entire time at Boneo P S and the leadership and positive contribution they have made to our school culture over many years. We were very grateful that they could celebrate their primary school journey with their traditional speeches, song and dance. The students’ enjoyment was very evident during their dinner and disco afterwards.

New Staff for 2021
Introducing Patrick Sumner our new Year 6 teacher in 2021.
Patrick has prepared the following introduction for our community.
Originally, l had an interest in studying physiotherapy due to my interest in the body and sport in general. My involvement in community made me realise I also have a passion for developing those around me to achieve their potential. I then combined these two interests and enrolled in a Bachelor of Education (Honours) Primary and Secondary Health and Physical Education.
I am looking forward to using this knowledge to become part of the development of the students at Boneo Primary School to become well-informed members of the community.
I have a strong interest in sport and am lucky enough to have the opportunity to both coach and play AFL at the Frankston Dolphins Football Club. I also enjoy traveling and learning about different cultures around the world.
I have been a part of various local primary schools on the Peninsula where I gained experience at an upper primary level.
I am looking forward to meeting and working with you all in 2021.
January Yard Transformation
We are excited to announce that over the holidays our yard transformation will begin. The outdoor kitchen will be completed with a purpose built shade cover and decking. The school entry will be totally transformed.
Snapshot of Learning
Year 6 Graduation Ceremony 2020
Art Club
What a wonderful term of Art Clubs. The children learnt so much, and have showcased their skills throughout.
It was finally my turn in the hot seat and the children turned me into… THE GRINCH!
I sketched out a face chart for them to try to copy onto my face and they did an incredible job! They were so gentle and polite, and I’m sure you’ll agree that the final product was quite spectacular!
At tomorrow’s assembly, a child’s name will be drawn out of a box and that child will be awarded the Art Club prize (all art goods personally chosen by me).
I just wanted to say thank you to the children for giving their all, being creative and trying new things. To be honest, I think I enjoyed it more than they did. I would also like to thank all of the teachers who gave up their lunchtimes to be painted (hopefully we’ll do it again next year and we can get some new teachers into the chair!)
And to all the children at Boneo who love being creative and do amazing pieces of art, please make sure to bring it all in next year to show me!
Have a lovely break, Miss Downward
