Boneo Buzz 14th November
Dear Parents and Carers,
Tuesday marked Day 1 of our School Review, and it was a productive and positive start. Our panel spent time visiting classrooms, speaking with students and staff, and gaining a deeper understanding of our school’s strengths and areas for growth. We are proud of the way our students represented themselves and the rich learning environment they showcased.
A reminder that as part of the review process, we will be hosting a Parent Panel on Tuesday 18th at 8:45am, and we warmly invite interested families to take part. If you would like to be involved, please contact the office to register your interest.
Your voice and insights are an important part of shaping our school’s future.
Oaks Day
Thank you again to everyone who joined us for Oaks Day this year. It was a wonderful community event, and we are thrilled to announce that we raised just under $8 000. We are truly grateful for your generosity and continued support of our school – events like this are only possible because of our incredible families and community.
Sushi Lunch
Thank you again to our wonderful School Council for organising another successful Sushi Lunch for us all, and a warm thank you to all who were able to support the day and helped raise funds for our school. A special thank you to Thea Smith and Josie Pierce for distributing all of the sushi on the day.
Boneo Market Volunteer
Our school is deeply committed to supporting both our school and the broader community through our involvement in the Boneo Community Market. Each month, our efforts at the market play a crucial role in raising much-needed funds, which are reinvested directly into our school. These funds support classroom programs, student resources, student program costs and school facilities to name a few.
We are currently seeking a dedicated volunteer/s to serve as additional school representatives on the Boneo Market Committee. This role involves a more active level of participation, ensuring our continued success at the market and further strengthening our community ties.
Key responsibilities include:
· Collaborating with the Boneo Market Committee, with attendance at one meeting every three months held onsite at our school.
· Managing the market phone to record stallholder bookings (responsibility is shared across committee members throughout the year)
· Assisting with market setup (shared with fellow committee members).
Behind-the-scenes efforts are invaluable to the success of the Boneo Market, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sarah Brown, who has supported our school as a dedicated committee member for several years and continues to do so. We also thank Ellen Evans for her contributions.
It would be invaluable to have additional committee members and if you are interested in volunteering and contributing to our school community through this role, please contact me.
Workforce Planning & ‘Step Up Day’
In the coming weeks, we will be finalising our staffing profile and placing students in their classes for next year. Students will find out this information on Friday 12th December when they transition into their new classes on our annual ‘Step Up Day’.
TREC – Technology, Research, Exploration and Collaboration
At this morning’s assembly, our Year 5 and 6 students proudly shared their learning from the TREC program, including an update from our Human Powered Vehicle team, who will be competing next week in the Energy Breakthrough event. Held in Maryborough, this event provides a fantastic annual opportunity for students, staff and the wider community to collaborate in designing, building and racing innovative vehicles powered by renewable energy. Drawing thousands of participants and spectators, it highlights teamwork, creativity and sustainability. We wish our teams every success.
Remembrance Day
On Tuesday 11th November, Remembrance Day, we paused for a minute’s silence to remember people’s service and sacrifice. Megan Young joined our proud parents and students at the Remembrance Day Service held at the Rosebud RSL Cenotaph. This was followed with the presentation of Scholarships to local Primary and Secondary students. We are so proud of our four recipients.
Snapshot of Learning
The School Colour Fun Run was a spectacular burst of energy, teamwork and community spirit. Students from every year level took part, racing through a rainbow-filled course while being showered in bright, eco-friendly colour powder. Laughter echoed across the oval as families and staff cheered on the runners and joined in the festivities.
Thank you to the outstanding support of our school community, the event not only promoted health and fitness but also raised valuable funds for our school.
A heartfelt thank you to our families and staff for helping make this year’s Colour Fun Run such a success.
We can’t wait to do it all again!
Remembrance Day 2025
This week, our school community came together to honour the men and women who have served – and continue to serve – during times of war, conflict and peacekeeping. Remembrance Day provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the courage, dedication and sacrifices made to protect the freedoms we enjoy today.
