Boneo Buzz 12th September
Dear Parents and Carers,
Our Year 6 students absolutely shone on stage during this year’s production of the children’s version of ‘Beauty and the Beast’! The performance was a true celebration of their talent, creativity and teamwork. Families were treated to an entertaining and high-quality show that reflected not only the dedication of our students, but also their confidence and joy in sharing their hard work with the community.
A huge thank you to our staff for their guidance and support throughout the preparation and performance process. In particular, we extend our gratitude to Libby Sison for her outstanding leadership in bringing the show together and helping our students step into the spotlight with such brilliance. Thank you also to the parents and grandparents who helped in so many ways including making amazing costumes and stage items, transporting items to and from the venue and supporting our students.
Thank you to the families who joined us for the evening performance – your encouragement means so much to our students. The pride and excitement on their faces said it all!
The Year 6 Production will remain a highlight of 2025, showcasing the spirit and talent of our wonderful students.
Father’s Day Stall
A big thank you to everyone who helped make our Father’s Day Stall such a success last week! Our students loved the opportunity to choose something special to surprise the important people in their lives.
We are especially grateful to our amazing admin team, who organised everything behind the scenes, and to our wonderful parent helpers – Madeleine Cook, Amy Hester, Cassey Penglis, Katie Reid– who generously gave their time to set up, run the stall and support the children as they carefully selected their gifts.
Footy Day
To celebrate the end of the footy season and upcoming grand final, we will be holding our annual House Footy Day on the last day of this term – Friday 19th September. Students are encouraged to wear their favourite football gear or colours from the AFL, VFL, Rugby, Soccer or local sporting club.

Snapshot of Learning
Year 3 Camp
Last week, our Year 3 students spent two action-packed days at The Ranch, embracing new challenges and building resilience. The camp focused on helping students face challenges, feel their feelings and think about how to move forward with confidence.
Over the two days, the students took on exciting activities such as the giant swing, mountain boarding, crate stack and camp scramble. These adventures encouraged them to step outside their comfort zones and support one another along the way.
The Year 3 teachers are incredibly proud of how the students demonstrated the school’s RED values, while having an amazing time. Well done Year 3 on an amazing camp experience full of growth and fun!
“I’m so proud of myself for showing persistence and getting back on the mountainboard after crashing into the teachers.”
“I am proud of my friend for taking a healthy risk and trying new foods.”
“I am proud of myself for thinking positively throughout the whole camp, from crate stacking to the bus back.”
“I am proud of my teacher because she kept checking on me when I was worried in my cabin.”
“I am proud of myself because I showed empathy and challenged myself by staying over the night.”

Heat and Energy Incursion
On Monday, the Year 4 students put their scientist hats on to explore the different forces involving heat and energy. Through their experiments, they used forces such as electromagnetism, friction and the transfer on energy in particles when they are heated and cooled. They had a fantastic time!

Year 5- Ready to Learn
Ready to Learn: Paper Back Sketch
On the morning of Wednesday the 10th of September, 5B played a ‘Ready to Learn’ game that gave students a chance to feel elevated, energised and a bit confused, in a good way!
In 5B’s learning space, we were playing this uplifting game called ‘Paper Back Sketch’, which is a game that involved students working in small groups. Teams lined up and attempted to sketch an image on paper placed on each other’s backs. The results were then compared from the first sketch to the last, often with hilarious differences.
5B was shocked to be laughing and having fun with peers they don’t usually hang out with. 5B was able to create unforgettable memories.
A ‘Ready to Learn’ is meant to be relaxing and enjoyable. This game was a perfect example of that, encouraging collaboration, humour and a safe, positive learning environment. 5B definitely thinks this game should be played more often! Often!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sincerely, Kira & Annika
How To Play Paper Back Sketch
- Split the class into even groups.
- Hand everyone a piece of paper and a texter.
- Have each group line up, not in any specific order.
- The person at the back must think of a random picture. Not too hard but not too easy either, for example, a 2D shape.
- Once the person at the back is done thinking of a picture, they place the piece of paper on the second person’s back so they can feel the lines on their back.
- When the first person is done, they tap the next person on the shoulder as no one is allowed to talk.
- Now the second person picks up their piece of paper and places it on the third person’s back drawing the lines that they felt on their back.
- Now you just repeat the steps until you get to the end of the line.
- When the person at the front of the line gets the sketch, they draw it on their piece of paper.
- Make sure everybody doesn’t look at each other’s paper.
- When the last person in the line is finished with their picture, then you can show your piece of paper to everyone.
- You don’t have to, but it is fun to take a picture of the first and last picture together to compare them.
This game brings students together and you may notice that they might be having a laugh and chatting with people that they usually don’t talk to. So maybe you could consider playing this game with family and friends to bring everyone together and have a bit of a laugh.
Sincerely,
Tilly
