Boneo Buzz 7th August
To our wonderful Boneo community,
Thank you so much for the incredibly kind messages, cards, treats and thoughtful gestures for Principal’s Day. Tom and I truly felt appreciated, and we are incredibly grateful for the generosity and support of our wonderful school community.
It is a genuine privilege to lead Boneo Primary School. Every day, I am reminded how fortunate we are to be part of this community. Our vision is to create a school where every student is challenged to learn, supported to grow and inspired to achieve. We believe that high expectations, strong relationships and a culture of kindness are the foundation for success. Together, we foster a pursuit of excellence – encouraging every student to strive for their personal best, embrace challenges and celebrate growth. When students know they are valued, encouraged and capable, they develop the confidence to reach their full potential.
Everything we do is guided by one simple question: What is best for our students? Keeping learning at the centre of every decision ensures we continue to provide engaging, evidence-informed teaching, a safe and inclusive environment and opportunities for every child to thrive.
Boneo is a very special place, and I feel incredibly proud of what we are building together. Of course, no principal can do this work alone, and we are incredibly fortunate to work alongside an amazing team of staff who go above and beyond every single day to support our students and one another.
Thank you also to our families for your ongoing partnership and trust. Together, we are creating a school where every child is known, challenged, supported and empowered to achieve excellence.
Thank you again for making us feel so special. Your kindness means more than you know and is a wonderful reminder of the strength of our Boneo community. We look forward to continuing to work alongside you as we pursue excellence together and, as always, continue Making Every Moment Count.
100 Days of Prep
Congratulations to our Foundation students on reaching the exciting milestone of 100 Days of School last week. It was wonderful to see our Foundation students and staff dressed up to celebrate the occasion. Hearing what our youngest learners dream of becoming was a real highlight of my chats.
These answers captured the innocence, imagination and big dreams that make this stage of childhood so special. They also reminded us of the important role we play, together with our families, in nurturing our children’s aspirations.
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful Foundation team for creating such a memorable celebration for our students.
Book Week – Friday 28 August
One of my favourite events on the school calendar is just around the corner – Book Week! Our annual Book Week Costume Parade will be held on Friday 28 August, and I can’t wait to see the creativity and excitement that always fills our school on this special day.
This year’s Children’s Book Week theme, “Symphony of Stories,” celebrates the way every story, character and reader comes together to create something truly special. Just as every instrument contributes to a beautiful symphony, every book has the power to inspire imagination, spark curiosity and help us see the world through new eyes. Through reading, children can travel to different places, meet unforgettable characters, solve mysteries, explore history, imagine the future and see the world through someone else’s eyes.
Reading has always been one of my greatest passions. There is something incredibly special about getting lost in a good book, discovering new ideas and sharing stories with others. It is a gift that opens doors to lifelong learning, curiosity and imagination, and I hope every child at Boneo develops a love of reading that stays with them well beyond their primary school years.
We encourage all students to come dressed as a favourite book character and join us in celebrating the joy, creativity and adventure that reading brings and invite all of our community to join us for this special assembly.
Every Day Counts!
We’re making progress with student attendance. So far this year, 41% of our students have been absent for 10 days or more, compared to 49% at the same time last year. That’s an improvement which shows that we’re heading in the right direction.
Every day at school matters. Regular attendance helps children build strong friendships, develop confidence and make the most of every learning opportunity. Even missing just one day every few weeks can add up over the course of a year.
Let’s keep the momentum going! By working together and aiming for every day possible at school, we can continue to improve attendance and give every child the best opportunity to thrive.
Thank you for partnering with us to make every school day count!
Drainage Works Update
Last term, improvement works were carried out on the drainage near our basketball court. Contractors will be returning next week to undertake more extensive drainage upgrades to address the ongoing flooding issues in this area.
As these works are expected to be significant, there may be equipment and restricted access around the site. We ask for your support by reminding your child to stay well clear of the work area at all times. Staff will also be reinforcing these expectations with students to ensure everyone’s safety.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work towards a long-term solution that will improve this area of our school grounds.
