Boneo Buzz June 19th
Dear Parents and Carers,
It is wonderful to reflect on the learning growth, curiosity and achievements we have seen across our school this term. Our classrooms have continued to be positive places of learning, where students have been challenged to think deeply, collaborate with others and develop their skills across all areas of the curriculum.
This term, our teachers have continued to focus on providing explicit and responsive teaching, ensuring students are supported with clear learning intentions, purposeful tasks and meaningful feedback. We know that students benefit when they understand what they are learning, why they are learning it and how they can continue to improve.
Across the school, students have been building their confidence as learners by taking risks, asking questions, practising new skills and reflecting on their progress. It has been fantastic to see students developing their independence, perseverance and ownership of their learning.
A key focus this semester has also been strengthening our classroom routines and learning environments. Across the school, students have been developing greater consistency around how we begin learning, transition between tasks, engage in discussions and manage their learning time. These predictable routines help create calm, focused classrooms where students know what is expected, feel supported and are able to spend more time engaged in meaningful learning. It has been wonderful to see students responding positively to these expectations and taking greater ownership of their learning behaviours.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership in your child’s education.
Carpark Safety Reminder
We would like to kindly remind all families about the importance of safety in and around our school carpark.
We understand that the current road conditions, along with the inclement weather, can make drop-off and pick-up times more challenging. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we navigate these conditions together knowing that safety must always come first.
Please take extra care when entering and exiting on Boneo or Limestone Roads, drive slowly, remain aware of pedestrians, and follow all designated traffic and parking arrangements. We also ask that families continue to supervise children closely and use the safest pathways when moving from their cars to the school grounds.
Finish Strong – Week 10 Attendance Challenge!
We are nearly at the finish line for Term 2! With only one week to go, we would love to see everyone at school, ready to learn, connecting and celebrating a wonderful term together.
Every day at school counts. The final week is full of important learning, opportunities to celebrate achievements, classroom activities and special moments with friends and teachers.
Let’s finish the term strong, Boneo! We can’t wait to see our students smiling as they enter the school grounds each day and making the most of our final week of term together.
Thank you to our families for continuing to support strong attendance and helping our students make every day count.
Building Resilience at Home Webinar – The Resilience Project
Recently, an invitation was sent to families via Compass for an upcoming webinar hosted by The Resilience Project.
The webinar will take place online on Wednesday 24 June, 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm and will be presented by Whitney from The Resilience Project. This engaging session will provide parents and carers with practical strategies to support children’s wellbeing at home through the principles of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness (GEM).
The session will explore:
· Practical ways to build resilience in children and young people
· Simple strategies to incorporate Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness into everyday family life
· How positive wellbeing practices can support children’s emotional development, relationships and learning
· Ways families can reinforce the wellbeing approaches being taught at school.
We know that a strong partnership between home and school plays an important role in supporting student wellbeing. This session is a wonderful opportunity for families to gain practical ideas and tools that can be used at home straight away.
Parents and carers are encouraged to register individually using the link provided via Compass. If you are unable to attend on the evening, a recording of the webinar will be made available and shared with our school community.
We encourage all families to take advantage of this opportunity and look forward to continuing to work together to support the wellbeing, resilience and happiness of our students.
The FIFA World Cup
There is no doubt that the FIFA World Cup has brought an incredible buzz of excitement in recent days, with students and staff alike caught up in the spirit of the beautiful game. The energy, conversations and enthusiasm across our school have been infectious!
It has been wonderful to see students sharing their passion for soccer, celebrating teamwork and enjoying the sense of connection and community that sporting events can bring. This will continue to be celebrated through our House World Cup this week. Further information is available on Compass from our resident soccer enthusiast, Mr Greening.
Let’s cheer on our Aussies tomorrow morning before heading along to enjoy the Boneo Community Market.
