Boneo Buzz 12th June
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we move into the last couple of weeks of term, teachers have been busy writing student reports which will be available to families at the end of this term.
Due to the Australian Education Union (AEU) Industrial Action earlier this term, reports will not include a General Comment or Learner Dispositions for this reporting cycle. Reports will include your child’s Curriculum Progression Points and Learning Tasks, providing information about their learning progress and achievement.
In Weeks 3 and 4 of Term 3, we will be holding Parent Teacher Interviews. These conversations will provide an opportunity for families and teachers to discuss student achievement, progress, strengths and future learning goals in more detail.
Reminder: Social Media Age Restrictions
Families are reminded that Australia’s social media age restrictions for children under 16 remain in place. These laws have been introduced to help protect young people from online harms, including cyberbullying, inappropriate content, online predators, and the negative impacts that excessive social media use can have on wellbeing. As a school, we encourage all families to support and respect these requirements. By working together, we can help create safer online experiences for our children and promote healthy habits both at school and at home. We encourage parents and carers to continue having regular conversations with their children about online safety, responsible technology use, and the importance of seeking help if they encounter anything online that makes them feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
Enrolments for 2027
If you have a child starting primary school in 2027, or know someone who does, applications for enrolment can be completed through the Vic Student Portal Home.
Having an indication of enrolment numbers assists us greatly with our future planning, staffing and organisation for the coming years. If you have any questions or would like further information around the enrolment process, please contact the school office.
Principals of the Day
I was very lucky this week to be joined by Sage, Georgia and Theo as our Principal’s for the Day. They were given a special mission pack filled with leadership tasks to complete throughout the day and did a fantastic job stepping into their roles. It was wonderful to see them demonstrate confidence, curiosity and responsibility as they worked alongside me.
A Special Thank You
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to author and former Boneo Primary School staff member, Sheila Knaggs, for joining us for a wonderful Story Time session with our prospective Foundation students and their families this morning.
Sheila’s engaging storytelling and warm connection with children helped create a memorable experience for everyone involved. We greatly appreciate her generosity in sharing her time and passion for literacy with our school community.
Thank you, Sheila, for helping foster a love of reading and storytelling in our future students.
Snapshot of Learning
Prep Gymnastics
On Thursday, Prep B students attended an excursion to BK’s Gymnastics Centre in Rosebud. During their visit, students took part in a fun, high energy 45 minute gymnastics session.
Well done Preps!
Year 6- TREC
The Wild Trials TREC group put their camp cooking skills to the test today. ‘The Pickle Marchers’, ‘The Unknown Burgers’ and ‘THEANT’ (student groups) had to plan, source and work in teams to create the perfect breakfast, lunch or dinner for their group.
Boys Netball
On Wednesday, Year 5 and 6 Boys went to Trumans Road to compete in the Netball Competition.
The day was an absolute nailbiter!
A huge congratulations to the A Team won 7 out of 8 games and progressed onto Division based on goal difference.
Well done to the B Team who came second in their pool.
Thank you to all staff who attended, and to Katie Reid for driving us.
