Boneo Buzz 24th April
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we begin Term 2, we return to our whole-school focus of ‘Making every moment count.’ At the heart of this is a strong commitment to academic achievement. Every moment in the school day is an opportunity for students to learn, build knowledge and experience success. When classrooms are calm, focused and supportive, students are better able to engage deeply in their learning and achieve their personal best.
Creating these conditions for learning relies on a positive, safe and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and ready to participate. High-quality teaching and strong academic outcomes are supported by clear expectations, consistent processes and a shared understanding of how we learn together.
Our approach is underpinned by two key non-negotiables:
Safety for All Physical violence is not accepted at our school. We respond in line with our Behaviour Policy to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students and staff, and to protect valuable learning time.
Respect and Inclusion: unkind, racist, sexist or discriminatory language or behaviour is not accepted. These behaviours are addressed promptly, as they impact both student wellbeing and their ability to learn effectively.
These expectations are explicitly taught, modelled and consistently reinforced across all settings so that students understand what positive behaviour looks like and how it supports both their own learning and the learning of others.
As part of this, it is important to have a shared understanding of bullying. Bullying is repeated behaviour that is intended to cause harm, fear or distress, and involves an imbalance of power. This can include ongoing teasing, exclusion, intimidation or physical aggression. Not all conflict or disagreements between students are bullying. Single incidents, accidents or disagreements are addressed through our behaviour processes but may not meet the definition of bullying. Regardless, all concerns are taken seriously and followed up appropriately.
We recognise that developing social and behavioural skills is an ongoing learning process. Our role is to respond with consistency, clarity and support, helping students reflect, learn and make improved choices over time. This includes clear expectations, fair consequences and strong support.
Please be assured that we follow structured processes to investigate and respond to concerns. We aim to communicate with families once we have gathered a clear and accurate understanding, which may not always be on the same day. To maintain privacy, we do not share specific outcomes, but all matters are addressed thoroughly.
We value the important partnership between school and home in supporting students. If concerns arise, we ask that families contact the school rather than approaching other children. This allows us to manage situations respectfully and consistently for all students.
We appreciate your support in helping students understand that consequences are a natural and important part of learning. They provide opportunities for reflection, growth and improved choices in the future.
Our focus is always on long-term growth – supporting students to develop the skills needed to manage their behaviour positively and contribute to a strong learning environment. By working together, we can continue to foster safe, supportive and inclusive classrooms where every student can fully engage and achieve success.
ANZAC Day
The Rosebud RSL will be hosting the ANZAC Day March tomorrow. The march will commence at 9:30am from the corner of Point Nepean Road and Ninth Avenue and head to the Rosebud Cenotaph on the Corner of Jetty and Point Nepean Roads. This will be followed by the main ANZAC Day Service.
We invite our students and families to join us to represent our community at the ANZAC Service. Our School Captains will be laying a wreath on our behalf, and it would be wonderful to support them.
