COMMUNITY SISTER SCHOOL
In 2015, Boneo Primary School established a sister school relationship with Pandanon Elementary School on Pandanon Island in the Philippines. Two of our staff visited the island of 3000 residents, 450 of whom attend our sister school. The entire island has no power or running water and poverty and malnutrition is widespread. The school has very poor facilities; many of the classrooms are makeshift. There are very limited toilets and water supply, with no drinking taps at the school. The school has no library, zero technology (computers, etc.) and limited school supplies (paper, pencils, books, instruments, sports/music equipment, etc.).
The Junior School Council work hard every year to come up with creative ways to raise money for our sister school. In the short time that we have had this relationship, the community of Boneo has funded a number of projects including:
- School supplies
- Feeding program
- Musical instruments
- Solar Power System
The entire island of Pandanon are most grateful for our support. Our students write and receive letters from the students of Pandanon and are learning about another culture and how truly lucky we are. Together we are significantly changing the lives of this community.
“The entire people of Pandanon Island are very much thankful to Boneo Primary School for the solar…for us you are our heroes and angels”
“Thank you so much for the positive action, I will never forget you, Boneo Primary School with your immeasurable support to the pupils of Pandanon ES” Principal, Pandanon Elementary School
