Boneo Buzz: 8th March
Dear Parents and Carers,
The children are so excited that our Family Food & Fun Night major fundraising event is next Friday. This event is a wonderful celebration for our school and extended community. Last year, this event raised over $12,000. All money raised will be used to replace the basketball rings with a height adjustable set and begin work on a new greenhouse and potting area beside the garage.
Please support your child’s class stall by placing your name on their class roster through the COMPASS booking portal. We understand that it can be a challenge for families with multiple children and appreciate the support our families continue to provide.
We can confirm Wittingslow Amusements will be offering the following rides on the night;
- Bungy Tramp (teacher managing the timing)
- Giant Inflatable Challenge
- Cup & Saucer
- Chair o Plane
- Giant Ninja Slide
We have kept the cost of ride tickets unchanged from previous years and tickets are now available to purchase from the office.
- Unlimited Ride Wristband – $25
- Bungy Tramp – $6
- All other Rides – $5
We encourage all families to bring along a picnic rug and enjoy the food and entertainment on the oval. There will be several food stalls, or you are welcome to bring along your own picnic.
The event set up is an all-day affair. If you have free time during the day and you are able to help, please contact the office.
A reminder that on the day, students are invited to wear free dress.
All children must be in the company of a supervising adult for the duration of the event.
Sponsors
Our business community have again been amazing in their support of our school.
We are thrilled to share some exciting news! Bonora Sport in Dromana has graciously donated a fantastic birthday party package to our upcoming silent auction, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their support. We’re looking forward to showcasing this amazing donation at our silent auction and creating an unforgettable experience for the lucky winner.
We wish to acknowledge ‘The Kitchen’ in Tootgarook (Coley Family) who are returning for another year on the Curry Stall. Bob and his staff are preparing the food and will be in attendance on the night for service. Please be sure to say hi to the ‘Kitchen’ team who will be located in the hall and thank them for supporting our school.
A huge thank you to Their Care for offering to sponsor the BBQ stall on the evening, they have generously offered to supply the burgers and sausages.
We would also like to thank Brad Kennedy Music and Peninsula School of Dance for coming back for another year! They will be entertaining us from 5.30pm on the oval. Grab your picnic blanket, dinner, gather with friends and enjoy the music.

House Swimming Carnival
A few weeks ago (19th Feb) we held our annual House Swimming Carnival at Yawa, where the year 3-6 students competed in a number of 50m heats and finals in events such as freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and novelty races.
The students who competed earned house points for their House and 28 students were selected to represent our school in the District Swimming Event at Yawa on Friday 1st March, with 10 students making it through to Division level, which takes place on Tuesday 12th March, again at Yawa.
The students who finished in the top 4 in all freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly finals received a ribbon today, which was presented at assembly. We also announced our winning house for Swimming 2024 at assembly as well, with the House trophy presented to the winning House Captains of Green House.
A great effort to all involved for another excellent House event.
Boneo Tennis Championships
Over the past few weeks, Mr Greening and some of Year 6 have been running our annual school tennis competitions for boys and girls at lunchtimes. The competition is open for all year 3-6 students. With over 40 entries in the girls and over 60 in the boys. It took a while to get down to our semi finals and finals in both competitions.
Well done to all who entered, helped score and run the event.
Our final 4 in each event were as follows;
Girls | Boys |
1st Ivy Hopkins Finger 6B 2nd Ellie Frost 6A 3rd Rickelle Tomkins 6B 4th Sophie Street 6A |
1st Lachlan Stephens 6B 2nd Harry Simmons 6A 3rd Rafael Seletto 6B 4th Dylan Brown 4B |
Awards will be represented at our assembly next week (15th March) with ribbons and the winners receiving a medal as well as having their name engraved on our school tennis trophy.
Good luck to Ivy, Ellie, Rickelle, Harry and Rafael who went onto represent our school at the District event today!

Snapshot of Learning
Veggie Stall
Our Year 6 students ran a Veggie Stall using the produce from our very own vegetable garden. It was a huge success with students raising just over $90 which will be put back in to our Kitchen Garden program. Thanks to our wonderful community for supporting our fresh produce stall. We are planning on running more throughout the year so if you missed out, make sure you get in next time.
