Boneo Buzz: 7th May
Dear Parents and Guardians,
House Cross-Country was a huge success with an overwhelming number of mothers and special friends joining us for the day to celebrate Mother’s Day. We were particularly impressed with the spirit exhibited by all of our students. Rosebud Secondary College students were outstanding baristas delivering an excellent coffee in their fancy new retro coffee van. We are thrilled to support this wonderful initiative and you can expect to see the coffee van at future events. A huge thank you to Mr Greening for coordinating another successful House event.
NAPLAN 2021
Our school will be participating in NAPLAN assessment for Years 3 and 5 from Tuesday 11th May to Friday 14th May. This will mean that students will complete the NAPLAN Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language and Numeracy tests. To find out more information about NAPLAN, visit https://www.nap.edu.au/
NAPLAN assessments provide parents and schools with an understanding of how individual students are performing at the time of the tests. NAPLAN is not a test that can be studied for and students are not expected to do so. At Boneo PS we prepare students by embedding the skills and knowledge required for NAPLAN in our teaching and learning unit plans. Students can see the types of questions and experience the types of skills both at school and home by visiting: https://www.nap.edu.au/online-assessment/public-demonstration-site
Our student’s progress is being monitored constantly at school, through assignments, quizzes, observations, projects, and standardised assessments. In today’s education climate, school success is defined by ensuring achievement for every student. To reach this goal, we need tools to help us identify students who are at risk academically and adjust instructional strategies to better meet these students’ needs. Student progress monitoring is a practice that helps teachers use student performance data to continually evaluate the effectiveness of their teaching and make more informed instructional decisions.
MOTHERS DAY STALL
We wish to thank our wonderful parents for their support of our Mother’s Day Stall on Thursday. The children love having an opportunity to purchase gifts for their mums and nanas. We hope you have a lovely surprise when you unwrap their treats on Sunday morning. A lot of thought went into every selection!
A very special thank you to Martha Rand, Caroline Skinner, Jacinta Mynott, Trudi Wooley, Emma Williams and Krystal Stephens for volunteering their time to help on the day. Our school community is very grateful for your generous support.
