Dear Parents and Guardians,

We continue to do all we can to ensure the health and safety of our school community and thank you all for your understanding and patience in supporting your child/ren from home. Increased restrictions have had us all reorganising and restructuring our lives and I appreciate the challenges that Stage 4 restrictions may have brought to your family. We are here to support you and the children over the coming six weeks. It is imperative that we must all stay at home, if we can stay at home as this is a public health crisis.

I encourage you to remain inspired, stay connected and foster good mental health habits. All families are asked to download the Smiling Minds App, a unique tool developed by psychologists and educators to help bring balance to your life. We suggest 10 minutes a day.

Take a photograph or video of any activity that you connect with and send it to us. We would love to promote this within our community.

Reading Assessment

We are excited to announce the introduction of timely feedback to parents following your child’s reading assessment. Each term, parents can expect a Compass notification to invite you to access your child’s reading feedback.

Feedback will outline the following:

Observation comments with the text title included
Goals and strategies discussed with the children

We are providing prompts and questions to support you in working towards your child’s reading goals. This guide works alongside the feedback you will receive throughout the term on your child’s reading progress. They are the same prompts used during lessons, small group instruction and one-to-one reading sessions, which means a consistent approach and language for the students. With your continued support, we can ensure students are reaching their full potential in Reading.

Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions regarding this assessment. Teachers will be uploading the Parent Reading Prompts and a guide to access the assessment.
