Boneo Buzz: 6th November
Dear Parents and Carers,
The staff had an exceptionally successful Curriculum Day focusing on the teaching of problem solving in Mathematics and the assessment of comprehension. These are main threads in our Annual Implementation Plan. Additionally, we were able to further track student progress and refine teaching in order to accelerate student performance in these areas.
Term 4: Student
Our focus for Term 4 is to ensure each student is supported in their wellbeing and learning needs and finishes the year with the confidence to progress. I want to assure you that we will respond to the unique and individual learning and wellbeing needs of all students, to prepare students for transition, and continue to build their knowledge, skills and resilience. Some parents may be worried about their child’s progress during the period of remote learning and wondering whether their child is ready to progress. Our school will use teaching strategies that draw on the best evidence available to help students close any learning gaps and meet their learning needs. We will support your child to complete this year and progress to the next year level in 2021 with confidence and optimism. If you wish to discuss any aspect of your child’s learning, please contact your child’s teacher.
2021 Enrolments
We are currently finalising plans for 2021 and would appreciate if any family is intending to relocate that they let us know as soon as possible so that we can finalise classes and staffing for 2021. We are currently able to accept some enrolments from Years 3 to 6 for 2021.
We really do want our parents to tell us what you think!
A BIG thankyou to those families who have completed the Parent Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and Training. We really appreciate your feedback and look forward to unpacking the data we receive about school climate, student behaviour, student engagement and your experiences of remote and flexible learning. This data will help inform our future planning and improvement strategies moving into 2021.
If you have not yet completed the survey, you still have time. You have access to the survey until Friday 13th November, through the link that was shared with families. If you require this information to be resent to you, please contact the Office.
Dick Parker
The Boneo Primary School community extends their sincere sympathies to the Parker family on the passing of Dick.
Dick and the Parker family have been stalwarts of the Boneo Cricket Club and Boneo community for a lifetime.
We remember Dick for his varied and countless good works to support the community through his membership of the Boneo Reserve and Market Committees. His tireless work for many years helping to develop the Boneo Market such that it became a major source of funds for our school, the Boneo Cricket Club & Tennis Club.
Vale Dick Parker.

Snapshot of Learning
Creative Arts and Craft Club with Miss Downward
In Craft Club on Wednesday, we made Emoji squishies. It was so awesome to see such a vast range of ages, and all of the older children supported the younger children throughout the whole craft session.
Max (Grade 4) did an exceptional job of his emoji, he even put highlights onto his sunglasses to make them 3D.
Shelby (Grade 5) showed wonderful initiative by coloring in the printed side first, and then to ensure that it was double sided, she copied the face perfectly onto the blank side as well. She also helped many Preps/Grade 1 students and cleaned up the classroom without being asked – SUPERSTAR!

For the Creative Arts club on Thursday this week, we turned the lovely Mr Cooper into Ursula, the evil sea witch out of the Little Mermaid. Mr Cooper was a very patient client, and the children did even more of the hard work this week – I am looking forward to when I don’t have to do any painting at all because the talented children will have full control!
Sienna (Grade 5) did a fantastic job of applying Mr Coopers false lashes without any assistance.
Walter (Prep) not only did some incredible blending of Mr Coopers face and hair with a paint sponge, but showed exceptional patience and concentration during the session.
Looking forward to another fun filled creative week with anybody who wants to come and join in,
Miss Downward.
