Boneo Buzz: 5th November
Dear Parents and Carers,
Congratulations everyone, we have so much to celebrate. As you know, we completed our 4 year School Review and I am thrilled to announce that our feedback and results are exceptional. A heart felt thank you to students, parents and teachers for your passion and obvious pride in our school. Our students and staff continue to demonstrate how our challenging and purposeful programs have lasting impact and lead to significant results. Mr Robert Stephens, the DET appointed Reviewer, is currently finalising the Review Report and Bob will meet with School Council and staff in the coming month to share the outcome. Through this rigorous process we have identified some key areas for growth. This list highlights some of the key foci in our new strategic plan:
- Develop and implement a whole school approach to student goal setting which promotes collaboration, sets high expectations for learning, and encourages high aspirations.
- Develop and implement an inquiry-based curriculum that is responsive, challenging and engaging for students.
- Further develop purposeful partnerships with parents and carers to promote student engagement in learning.
- Develop a whole school approach to the teaching of writing and spelling
I look forward to sharing the finalised new Strategic Plan with our community.
Special Events
It is with much excitement that we will be able to engage in a range of special events as we progress through the term. There will continue to be regulations around what can be done and how it can be done but celebrating with the children and getting back to all the things we know and love around the end of the year will be wonderful.
We are planning for:
- Year 2 Sleepover – Friday 26th November
- Color Run – Friday 3rd December
- Working Bee – Friday 3rd December
- Christmas Concert – Thursday 9th December (Basketball Court)
- Curriculum Day – Friday 10th December
- Step Up Day – Monday 13th December
- Year 6 Graduation- Tuesday 14th December (Basketball Court)
- Year 5/6 TREC activities
- Celebration Excursions for each year level
Assessment and Reporting
As we return to school our focus in on reconnection and engagement in learning.
We have made the conscious decision to reduce the amount of assessment undertaken prioritising teaching and learning. All families will receive an end of year report. In line with the Departments guidelines this will include comments and grading on your child’s achievements in English and Mathematics as well as comments on performance in Specialist areas. Reports are due to go live on Thursday 16th December.
Transition
We have recently been notified that transition programs can go ahead on site. This means that our 2022 Prep students and Year 6 students heading off to secondary school next year will be able to engage in State-wide Transition Day on the 7th December. Step Up Day (meet the teacher for 2022) is Monday 13th December, and will provide a wonderful opportunity for children to further develop current friendships as well as develop new connections. Teachers will be collaborating over the coming weeks to develop well balanced classes for 2022.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend,
