Boneo Buzz: 4th September

Dear Parents and Carers,

Student Agency in Action

Last week, our Year 6 students shared a compelling plan to ‘take over the learning’ and be the teachers for the day on Monday 7th September. The students have developed an excellent program, creating advertisements and a video pitch to entice our students to join their class. The program is an attachment to the Buzz Compass post. This afternoon, we have uploaded the full schedule on each class Compass page so that families can support children to plan their day.

Please note, children can only attend one Minecraft session. Families will need to complete this pre- booking form- Minecraft Booking Form so that we can email student access codes to each family.
Our students have excelled, sharing learning with teachers and parents through Student Led Conferences. Our community have certainly displayed an understanding of the importance this opportunity presents for our students. This week, James had a truly international event. Dad was in Melbourne, James and Mum were in New Zealand, in the car travelling to a ski event – all were online with Mr Pollett engaged in James’ Student Led Conference. What a wonderful way to harness technology. I have enjoyed catching up with students online to hear all about their learning.
We are waiting with interest to hear what plans the Government has for our return to school and hope that we are able to get all of our children back onsite as soon as possible. Teachers continue to do an outstanding job hosting Zooms and connecting with our students. I also want to acknowledge the efforts of our students and families from home. Needless to say, we are currently planning for the students’ return, including many discussions around how our structures can support the health, safety and social/emotional wellbeing of our children in Term 4. Once we have further clarity, these will be shared with you all.

Finally, I want to wish all of our fathers a very happy Father’s Day on Sunday. I hope you enjoy a day filled with love and special treats!
