Boneo Buzz: 3rd February

Dear Parents and Carers,

150 Years of Excellence in Education

2023 is going to be a very special year for our community. Boneo Primary School will celebrate 150 years of excellence in education this coming May, saluting the occasion with a special community event. Boneo is one of the first educational institutions established on the Mornington Peninsula. Our school first opened in 1873 on the corner of Browns and Boneo Roads. We then moved to the corner of Boneo and Long Point Road in 1885, before settling at our current location in 1921. We can be proud of our long history and ongoing commitment to offer inclusive education for all students.

Our students will explore our history through their Units of Inquiry and prepare a grand exhibition to toast the milestone by creating a self-guided tour of our 150 years. The festivities will document and recount a history that dates back to 1873. It’s going to be special!

We have had a wonderful start to the year. Our 68 new Preps are settled and thriving due to the outstanding support from their Year 6 buddies and teachers. Please reach out to our teachers if your child needs additional support to settle into the year. Open communication between home and school is vital to ensure we support our young people to thrive.

Reminders

  • Please keep reading the Buzz each week. Our teachers send a weekly Preview to Learning so make a habit to read it so that your child/ren do not miss out.
  • All students need their school red hat every day
  • Please do not double park out of the allocated Council spaces at the tennis court when dropping off or picking up students.
  • Please send a jumper for students as the weather changes
  • Dogs are not able to be on school grounds so please keep them on the oval on a lead in regular school hours.
