Boneo Buzz: 28th June

Dear Parents and Carers,

As the term concludes and we reach the end of the first semester, it is once again an opportunity to reflect on our students’ growth and to thank our wonderful staff and supportive school community. From teaching and learning highlights that you will be able to read in your child’s Semester One Report which are available on Compass, to a range of wellbeing events, our school has been buzzing with positive and optimistic energy. A big thank-you to the many parents, carers and grandparents who have engaged with our school attending excursions, assisting at our sporting events, being part of the school council, assisting with incursions and stalls, participating in school events, helping with the SAKG cooking, volunteering at the Boneo Market plus many other events.

To further support families with volunteering for the Boneo Market, we have created an option on Compass for families to volunteer for the July, August and September markets.

To volunteer, please do the following:

  • Click on the ‘Parent Student Teacher Conference’ link (at this stage we are unable to change the wording of this and are working with Compass staff)
  • Select between the Car Parking or BBQ roster
  • Select one of your children
  • Click on the roster to open the times available
  • Select a time.

Please don’t hesitate to call me or the office for support if needed.

I wanted to take a moment to also acknowledge and express my heartfelt gratitude for the extraordinary efforts of our dedicated staff who have gone above and beyond to ensure that every student receives a high-quality education. It is their dedication and love for our school community that has enabled Boneo PS to continue to thrive.

On a personal note, I have appreciated your support and trust as I stepped into the Acting Principal role this term. I have had confirmation from the Department that I will continue in the role in term 3 pending the substantive principal selection.

After a busy term, I am sure everyone is looking forward to some quality time with friends and family. I hope that all our community enjoy the very well-deserved break. I look forward to everyone’s safe return for the start of term 3 on Monday 15th July.

  • Perspex or clear polycarbonate sheeting in sheets 3 meters or longer

If you can help, please contact the office.

Thank you for your support.

Dear Boneo Community,

As we approach the end of another fantastic term of music lessons, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate the incredible progress and fantastic music our students have been creating! Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been working on this term:

Guitar Students: Our guitarists are diving into music notation, applying it to their playing, and for our seasoned players, mastering chords to play popular songs. The progress has been music to our ears!

Brass and Woodwind Students: Our brass and woodwind players are perfecting their posture and technique to achieve the ideal tone. We’ve also focused on reading and applying standard notation to their instrument, and the results have been outstanding.

Upcoming Events

Next term, we’ll be organizing exciting performance opportunities for students to showcase their talents. Whether it’s at school events or special showcases, our musicians will have plenty of chances to shine. Stay tuned for more details, and let me know if your child is interested in participating!

Superstars of the Term

This term, we have some superstars who deserve special recognition for their hard work, energy, and enthusiasm:

  • Franklin – 1B
  • Harrison – 6B
  • Mason – 6B
  • Delia – 1A
  • Malia – 2C

Congratulations to these students for bringing their instruments and music books to every lesson, practising at home, and always showing up with a smile!

Kitchen and Garden Program

At the heart of the Kitchen and Garden program lies a steadfast commitment to sustainability. We prioritize the well-being of our garden’s ecosystem by avoiding chemical interventions, fostering a harmonious environment where plants, insects, and people thrive together.

Enter Project Scarecrow!

The scarecrow plays a crucial role in protecting our young crops from birds. It stands as another essential tool in the arsenal of the organic gardener. Moreover, it symbolizes our dedication to sustainable practices, turning old shirts destined for landfill into valuable assets for our garden.

Traditionally, scarecrows are stuffed with straw, but we’ve taken an extra sustainable step by using soft plastics instead. Thanks to the enthusiastic support of our Grade 3 and 4 families, who have diligently collected these plastics that would otherwise be discarded, we are making a significant environmental impact.

As we enter the design phase, our garden is experiencing a newfound sense of tranquility. Stay tuned as we bring this innovative project to life and continue to nurture our garden with sustainability as our guiding principle!
