Boneo Buzz: 28th July
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week our students celebrated their learning through a ‘Student-Led Conference’. The student-led conference is a critical part of the learning process that lets students engage in deeper self-reflection. It promotes the importance of students taking responsibility for their learning with support and guidance from their teacher. It also shows our students that, together, we will support their learning and celebrate their achievements. We hope our parents and carers enjoyed this experience and gained further insight into their child’s progress.
100 Days of School
Our amazing Prep students celebrated their 100 Days of School milestone today. They have enjoyed a wonderful day, dressing up in bright clothing to celebrate being ‘100 days brighter’, and completing numerous activities to showcase their learning.
We want to know what you think!
We will be conducting The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey to find out what our community thinks of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement.
We encourage all families to participate in this survey so that our school can use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 7th August to Friday 8th September 2023.
Parents and Carers will receive a Compass notification containing a password to access the anonymous survey.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
Trivia Night
Tomorrow evening, we will be testing our general knowledge at the Boneo PS Trivia Night. The evening will be entertaining and lots of fun, with great prizes to be won.
Thank you to School Councillors, Owen Goodwin and Vanessa Smedley for organising this event.
Road Safety
The safety of all our community members is an absolute priority for us at BPS, as such, it is pleasing to see so many families using our designated areas for drop off and pick up. I ask all parents and carers to follow the council directed traffic flow system for drop off and pick up outlined below:
- On the tennis court side of the school, enter via Boneo Road and exit at Limestone Road. We have a one-way traffic system.
- Only park in allocated spaces. I am concerned to see double parking and blocking of the driveway near the tennis court and at the back of the oval. Please do not create your own parking bay – it is unsafe.
- Keep the Accessibility Parking bays free for those who need this space.
- Please do not park near the collection bins and designated bus pick up on Limestone Road. This is a legal requirement, and the shire will be enforcing this.
Research indicates that before the age of 11 years, children are unable to judge the speed of oncoming cars and this increases their risk of injury when crossing. Think of these guidelines as a pro-active approach to helping our child stay safe around traffic.
