Boneo Buzz: 21st October
Dear Parents and Carers,
It was wonderful to see so many parents join us for assembly this morning. A huge thank you to the Lions Club for the breakfast BBQ. It was such a scrumptious way to start the day. I congratulate the JSC for organising Melinda from 123 Read to Me who shared her thoughts about the importance of reading and imagination. The charity, 123 Read to Me, will be taking all of our donated books and sending them to the flood ravished communities across the State to make sure children have glorious books to read. Please continue to drop off books at the Rye and Rosebud Bendigo Bank branches.
Great work everyone!
Colour Run Update
How exciting to note that we have already raised over $5000 in sponsorship. As promised, Rowena Sykes was the first teacher to be colour bombed today to celebrate the $5000 milestone. Prep B won the first fish and chip lunch with the highest class total this week. Please set up a profile and get started, we are aiming to raise $25000 for a playground upgrade. Introducing New Teachers that will be joining our staff in 2023.
Brody Davenport
As a child, I always wanted to be a teacher. I spent my weekends with friends role playing and probably boring them with all of my teacher talk. Fast forward to University, I studied my Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education. I have now been teaching for 5 years and since beginning my journey, I have never looked back! I absolutely adore helping children become the best version of themselves whilst developing life-long skills. There is nothing better than seeing students be proud of themselves for achieving something they have worked so hard to accomplish!
In 2020, my partner and I purchased our first home on the Mornington Peninsula. It was a very hard call for me to change schools, however, the moment I walked into Boneo I knew this was the perfect school for me!
When I am not teaching and inspiring little people, you will find me enjoying time with friends and family, hanging out with my niece and nephews, keeping active by playing netball at a local club or exploring the outdoors! I also enjoy being creative and baking delicious goods.
I am absolutely thrilled that I have been provided with the opportunity to join the Boneo community for 2023. I am excited to continue implementing all that I have learnt during my experiences as a classroom teacher, as well continue to learn and grow professionally alongside the staff at Boneo PS.
Antonia Scandizzo
Hello Boneo Primary School students, families and staff. My name is Antonia Scandizzo (Miss Scandizzo) and I am excited to be the STEM teacher in 2023.
It has been wonderful to meet many of you this year as a relief teacher whilst I finished my studies at Monash University. My teacher background is in Maths, and I love learning with children and investigating challenging problems.
I enjoy being outdoors and going for a walk or bike ride with my family and friends. On a cosy day at home, I always make time to sit down with a hot chocolate and a good book or puzzle.
I look forward to joining the Boneo community next year, and exploring and experimenting with you all!
Grace Adlam
I am so grateful and honoured to be joining the teaching team at Boneo Primary School in 2023. I have a passion for teaching and empowering children to develop a love and curiosity for learning where I aim to provide a classroom which values each individual child.
I completed my Bachelor of Primary Education at Monash University which provided me the skills and experience to challenge and support all students to achieve their learning goals.
I am passionate about helping others and believe the world is a brighter and better place when people spread kindness and positivity. I had the opportunity in 2018 and 2019 to volunteer my time in Malaysia and Cambodia to help build an outdoor classroom and teach English to young children which led me to my teaching journey.
I love spending my spare time going for beach walks, stand up paddle boarding and spending time with family and friends on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula.
I cannot wait to begin teaching at Boneo Primary School where I will bring my energy, passion for learning and kind-hearted and optimistic nature to create an inclusive, respectful, and empowering environment.
Carparking
Please remember to refrain from using the allocated parks for people holding a Disabled Carparking permit. These parking bays are on Limestone Road and next to the Hall. This needs to be adhered to at all times.
Oaks Day Fundraising Event
2 weeks to go!
The office is starting to fill with donations. It is incredible to see and feel the support of our business community. Such a wide variety of items on offer. Don’t forget to send all donations to the office as soon as possible.
We have very limited availablity for tickets, so if you are waiting to purchase, now is the time. Numbers have been provided to the venue, but we do have just a few seats left.
If you or a guest have any dietary requirements, please notify the office immediately to ensure your requirements are catered for.
The much loved ‘Lolly Buffet’ is returning and we are very thankful to Adam Alexander, Principal Director of Belle Property Dromana, for sponsoring this guest favourite.
Adam has also graciously offered his very entertaining auctioneering expertise to conduct our ‘Live Auctions’ on the day. Thank you so much to Adam and the team at Belle Property Dromana.
Year 6 – ‘Passions Pop Up’
The Year 6 students are so excited to present their market ‘The Passions Pop Up’ on Thursday 3 November. The planning for the market was a rigorous process, with the students presenting an elevator pitch to the cohort in a ‘Shark Tank’ experience. The items they are making relate directly to their personality, which is our Inquiry focus for Term 4. The Year 6 students are busy making their products and organising their advertising/marketing for the big day. There is a broad range of items for sale to cater to everybody’s personal taste, and the items will be priced between $1 to $5. The Year 6 students are so excited to run this market for their fellow students, so make sure to bring some money in two weeks time to join in the fun!
We’re holding the School Fun Run as a major fundraising event this year! The event will be held on Thursday 17th November. We are really hoping to raise $30,000 which will pay for a new senior school playground.
Keep your eyes peeled for the sponsorship forms which were sent home with your child. Once you have the form, you should sign up for a Student Profile Page at schoolfunrun.com.au. You’ll be able to access online fundraising and can win a $20,000 Ultimate Family Package!
Students who raise $10 or more will receive a reward, and the more money you raise the better the reward, and the more you help the school!
We’re looking for all students to participate and we’re organising a great day for our community, so we’d love everyone to come down to support the kids.
If you have any questions about the Fun Run please contact the School Fun Run Office on 1800 FUN RUN.
Thanks for supporting the school and we hope to see you at the event!
