Boneo Buzz: 21st June

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had another great week of learning at Boneo. Students have been working closely with teachers to use feedback about their learning to set future learning goals. By doing so, our students are able to take ownership of their learning. Semester 1 reports will go live next Thursday. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about each child’s achievements and goals for future learning. Please look over the report with your child. Celebrate their learning and look at the anticipated future achievements with optimism. With encouraging words, a school report can be a turning point in a child’s life, setting the direction for future learning. If you have any questions regarding your child’s report, please see your child’s teacher or discuss them at the student-led conference which will be in week 3 of next term.

Farewell to Chloe Umbers

Next week we say goodbye to Chloe Umbers.  Chloe has been instrumental in supporting the teaching and learning at Boneo PS as our Learning Specialist. Her vision for education and helping every student achieve is inspirational and I am sure her next chapter will be just as successful.

We wish Chloe all the best with her move back to Western Australia to be closer to family and will miss all that she does for our school.

Boneo Market

Thank you to everyone who has been supporting our school by volunteering at the Boneo Market. To help families manage their schedules, we are setting up a volunteer booking system on COMPASS which will allow people to volunteer in advance. The process will be the same as when booking a time for a parent teacher conference.  The volunteer roster will go live next week with the option to volunteer for the July, August and September markets.

Your support with the BBQ and Car Parking provides us with much-needed funds which are used to purchase resources and items for students. The market is also a great opportunity for us to come together as a community. I am hoping this change will allow for more parents and grandparents to volunteer their time.

Young Entrepreneurs

I wish to thank everyone for supporting our Year 6 Market this week. The students have been working hard at building their understanding of financial mathematics through this work, including developing profit and loss statements and marketing plans. The money raised will go toward a charity that our Year 6 students will democratically select.

Thank you

Over the term, we have managed a variety of illnesses. I want to thank you all, parents and carers, for your support in reducing the risk of illnesses by keeping your children home when unwell.

Ritchies Community Benefit Program

We are excited to remind you that Boneo Primary School is a proud participant in the Ritchies Community Benefit Program. By nominating Boneo Primary School as your preferred beneficiary when shopping at Ritchies, you directly contribute to the betterment of our school community.

It’s simple and impactful! Every time you shop at Ritchies and use your Community Benefit Card, a portion of your purchase goes towards supporting our school. This funding helps us provide more resources, enhance our facilities, and create a better learning environment for our students.

Snapshot of Learning

Year 6 Market Success

We had a great day at our Year 6 market. Thank you for your support during this unit of Inquiry. It was a great Business & Economics learning experience for our students, we appreciate the whole school getting involved to purchase items. Our apologies to students, parents or family members who may have missed out on some items at the end of the day. Some of the stalls were very popular, selling out before you could get to them!

Year 6 students will spend some class time this week researching local Mornington Peninsula charities for the proceeds to be donated to. Look out for the final amount raised, coming soon.

Again, thank you for all of your support in sending money with your student to school. It made for a great unit for our Year 6 classes, as well as some whole school fun!

Year 3’s Exciting Literacy Work!

This term, our Year 3 students have been working hard on their literacy skills. They have written and published their own books, created a poem, and made a piece of art connected to their studies.

They are excited to share their work with other grades at the ‘Literature Launch Party’ next Wednesday, June 26th. We hope you can join us at 2.15pm to see what they have accomplished!

Drama TREC Group

A few weeks ago, the Year 5/6 Drama TREC group went to Rosebud Secondary to see their VCE Theatre Studies production of Masquerade. They students loved it and are excited to begin working on a short play of their own next semester.

Music Camp

The camp brings together students from six Peninsula schools for three days of intensive rehearsals. They engage in small group sessions led by experienced teachers, along with large group rehearsals. Throughout the event, the students have a great time collaborating and learning together. The camp concludes with a final concert on the last night, beginning at 6pm at Eastbourne Primary School, where students enthusiastically perform for their families and friends, demonstrating the results of their hard work and enjoyment during the camp.
