Boneo Buzz: 21st February
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Like most schools, Boneo Primary School relies heavily on fundraising activities to help purchase resources and equipment over and above our education allocation. In 2020, we have the following major fundraising events organised:
- Family food and Fun Night
- Colour Run
- Oaks Day Lunch
- Boneo Community Market
You can help support these activities by attending events, telling your friends, colleagues and neighbours; purchasing items, or simply by lending a hand.
We would love to thank parents who were able to volunteer as class Parent Coordinators in readiness for the Family Food and Fun Night. If you were not able to volunteer we ask all parents to support this event in any way they can. We will be holding a planning meeting on Friday 21st February at 9am in the staffroom. We welcome all interested volunteers to attend. This is our major fundraising event for Term 1, with all funds raised being directed into our building projects fund. If you are unable to attend, but would like to make suggestions on the running of this event, please email me at whitworth.mandy.m@edumail.vic.gov.au
Lucky Jars
On Thursday 27th February and Wednesday 18th March, students are invited to wear free dress (not school uniform) in exchange for donating a Lucky Jar. The jar should be filled with something that would appeal to children. Some ideas for jar fillers are; small toys, stationery, coins, hair ties, marbles etc.
Lollies are acceptable but please make sure that they are in individual wrappers or place the unopened packet in the jar (this is for health reasons). The jar may be of any size from a large coffee jar to a jam jar.
The jars are then sold on a lucky dip system at our FFFN for $2.
School Photo Day
A reminder that our school photography day is this Monday 24th February. All students will be photographed individually and in class groups. There is an option for sibling photos, please see the order forms sent home with all children for further details.
Orders are placed online with School Pix

Cyber Safety with Year 6
Today we learnt about safety online and the consequences that come with breaking the rules. Aaron and Deneen from Victoria Police helped us to understand the dangers of social media and how to stop it happening.
A phrase that they used a lot was, ‘If you think it’s wrong, it’s probably illegal’, which basically means exactly what it says.
They also taught us that any random person can pretend to be your best friend and are able to track you if you do not turn off locations in settings.
If you post a picture on Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and other sites that is inappropriate, you have a decent chance of getting in trouble and that is not ideal if you want to get a job.

An important reminder that nearly all social media services require users to be at least 13 years of age to access and use their services. This includes Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, Musical.ly and Skype. TikTok requires that users be at least 13 years old to use the app and that anyone under the age of 18 must have approval of a parent or guardian.
