Boneo Buzz: 20th September
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is hard to believe we head towards our final term for 2019. A huge thank you to our wonderful community for the continued support of our programs. Your assistance ensures we can offer a broad range of opportunities for our children. Chatting with parent volunteers at the Year 4 Camp, it was obvious that our parents value the chance to connect with student learning. Additionally, we had 98% of our parents attend the Student Led Conferences, our best result ever. Research tells us that children have improved wellbeing and academic outcomes when parents and teachers work in partnership.
Throughout Term 3, we have been making plans to transform our outdoor learning spaces and applied for numerous grants to support the funding of these projects. I have attached copies of the plans and encourage families who feel they may be able to contribute in any way to contact me directly.
Planned Projects
The transformation of the entry to the school adjacent to the tennis court.
We plan to build a ‘Space for Playing and Learning – Sensory Garden’. This will enable our students to have an outdoor – Green Zone – when they need some quiet time to regather their emotions. We have been working with a number of para professionals to design an inclusive outdoor areas, which will cater for all students. It is an extremely tactile space that will encourage exploratory play and it also has a number of spaces where students can sit, rethink, reflect and reconnect.
The Stephanie Alexander Outdoor Kitchen Classroom will begin construction next term. Please see the design and plans below.
Show Jumping Success
Congratulations to Fallon and Charlize on an outstanding result in their first show jumping competition on Sunday.
The girls competed in the Group 4 event at Gunnamatta Trail Rides, finishing in first and second place.
Well done riders and horses.
Boneo Students Shine
Several Boneo students, past and present, performed in the recent PSD production ‘Into the Woods’. We have received wonderful reviews on the production and congratulate all involved.
Cricket Victoria Clinic
A big thanks to Cricket Victoria for visiting our school this week and running a complimentary clinic. The children really enjoyed the beautiful weather and an opportunity to have a hit on the oval during our ‘Ready to Learn’ time on Tuesday morning.
Oaks Day
Our Oaks Day event is almost at capacity with just two tables remaining. We have increased the guest number for 2019 and are very excited at the prospect of hosting our largest group ever.
To achieve this milestone is testament to the generosity of our extended school community, whose support of our fundraising efforts is overwhelming.
We are incredibly grateful to all of our supporters, those who attend our event, to the local business community who donate goods and services and to the very special group of people who donate their time and expertise to ensure this event continues to grow and remain successful.
Stay tuned for some very exciting announcements and special offers from our amazing sponsors.
Thanking the following businesses for their continued support;
Snapshot of Learning this Week
Night at the Museum – Year 2
Our Year 2 Students have been engaging in a Unit of Inquiry on Dinosaurs.
They have read, researched and investigated dinosaurs of their choice and this week showcased their learning at our ‘Night at the Museum’ exhibition.
A big thank you to all of our visitors and congratulations to Year 2 for all of their hard work.
The Start of a Show – By Lennix Year 6
I walk onto the stage,
The whole room like a cage.
I have an urge to run and hide,
But l push that feeling deeper inside.
I know my friends are right beside me,
So there’s no reason to worry.
The lights are shining on my face,
And l hope no props are displaced.
I plant my feet nice and firm,
So l know l will not squirm.
I get a feeling inside my chest,
As l’m about to take my final breath.
The show starts and l’m filled with wonder,
Will the show go right? l ponder.
