Boneo Buzz: 1st December
Dear Parents and Carers,
Kitchen Garden Updates and Community Call to Action!
I’m thrilled to share some exciting plans and opportunities for our community to contribute to the growth and sustainability of this special space.
- Garden Stakes and Supports: We are embarking on a creative project with our Year 3 students who will be constructing structures to support our growing seedlings in the garden. To make this project more sustainable and community-driven, we are reaching out to you for donations of any old stakes, sticks, or materials that could serve as trellises. Your contribution will not only support our garden but also showcase the wonderful things that can be repurposed in sustainable gardening.
- Wood Scraps for Signs: Marz, one of our parents, has sourced untreated wood scraps from a local building site. These will be transformed into signposts for the various crops in our garden. We encourage the children to participate in constructing these signs. Our aim is to make this a collaborative and educational experience for our young gardeners.
- Shade Solution: As the weather warms up, we’ve identified the need for a shaded area in the garden. An umbrella could provide a cool and comfortable space for our students during various garden activities. We’re open to donations, and if anyone has a contact or recommendation in this area, please share your thoughts with us.
- Greenhouse Dreams: We’re exploring the possibility of having a greenhouse for our garden. While traditional options on the market have their challenges, we are considering a community-built greenhouse using recycled materials. This ambitious project aims to engage tradespeople within our school community. If you have skills, ideas, or connections in this area, please reach out – we’d love to make this dream a reality! Additionally, we’re open to the idea of approaching nearby farms for potential greenhouse donations that may need some community love and restoration.
Community Collaboration: Our garden’s success relies on the collective efforts of our community. Your involvement, whether through donations, expertise, or ideas, is crucial to the continued growth and sustainability of our garden. Let’s come together to nurture not only the plants but also a sense of shared responsibility and pride in our school garden.
Thank you for being an integral part of our green journey. I look forward to seeing our garden flourish with the collective care and support of our amazing community!
Prinicipal For The Day!
A huge thank you to Jonah Tuff for being our Principal for the Day! Jonah did a remarkable job overseeing the Boneo Bucks, issuing rewards and creating some festive spirit in the office by setting up our Christmas tree. Thank you Jonah!!!
Congratulations Mrs Tomelty!
Congratulations and welcome back to our lovely Lexie Tomelty, previously Lexie Kougioumtzis, on her recent wedding! The Boneo community wishes you and your partner every happiness at this special time.
Southern Peninsula Music Camp Documentary Screening
The Southern Peninsula Music Camp has been running for over 35 years. One of the founders of the camp was Boneo’s own Sally Walsh. We, the music teachers, feel it is important to remember how this unique learning program began. So we decided to make this documentary. It is made up of footage filmed over recent years, and also from some found in the archives! At this year’s camp, we especially focused on interviewing students, tutors and staff, to include in the film.
The documentary will be screened at the Rosebud Cinema on FRIDAY 1st DECEMBER at 6:00pm.
All tickets are $15 and any proceeds will go directly into next year’s Music Camp.
Only limited tickets, so be quick!

School Fun Run
Thanks so much to everyone for participating in the School Fun Run! We raised close to $20,000 which is very exciting and also means Mrs Whitworth is all set to be slimed at next week’s assembly.
The event proved to be a great day and it was fantastic to see all of our students getting involved.
Get excited as we’ve just had word that the prizes will be arriving shortly. Thanks again for supporting your child and our school!
HPV News
Boneo had a hugely successful trip to Maryborough last weekend for HPV! Our students created history for Boneo, with White Lightning taking out the Championship of the Energy Breakthrough 2023!
What superstars our students are!! We are so incredibly proud. This program continues to go from strength to strength, and we can’t thank our families enough for the support you give our students to produce these incredible results.
More photos and information to come in next weeks edition of the BUZZ.
