 COVID-19 update and QR Codes

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Victorian Government has announced new arrangements for schools in Victoria from and including Friday 18 June.

From 11.59pm Thursday tonight, schools in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria will now operate under the same settings.

Key changes:

  • Masks are recommended outdoors at school where physical distancing of 1.5m cannot be maintained.
  • Visitors to school grounds must also observe face mask requirements.
  • Camps and overnight stays can take place within Victoria, with no travel restrictions. Multiple schools can attend camps providing school groups remain separated and do not share common facilities at the same time.
  • Excursions and incursions are permitted throughout Victoria.
  • Indoor and outdoor interschool sport can proceed throughout Victoria, and outdoor and indoor contact and non-contact physical activity is permitted.

I need to provide you with important information about a new update on the health directions under which all schools will be required to operate.

Face masks must still be worn inside.

The use of Service Victoria QR codes for electronic record keeping is mandatory for all workplaces to enable the effective contact tracing of any COVID-19 cases. This now includes all education sector workplaces, including schools.

QR codes will be required to be used by:

  • all parents who enter buildings when on the school site
  • all visitors, including contractors, external Department staff and building and maintenance staff
  • QR code check ins are not required for staff or students.

All parents and visitors need to enter via the office area first to check in using the QR system. We will have multiple posters on display for your convenience.

Face coverings – Must be carried at all times

If you are not able to check in using a smartphone or tablet, our Kiosk check-in service is available at the Office. Using the QR code system does not replace the existing requirement to sign in at reception (for a specific purpose such as helping in the classroom).

Thank you for your support and understanding of this important health direction. Please don’t hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns.

Parent Communication Feedback

To ensure we are continually meeting the needs of our community, could you please take the time to complete this quick survey. Your responses will help us to improve the way we communicate and ultimately work together to make each child’s school experience the best it can be.  Parent Communication Survey: https://forms.office.com/r/fYwSVcVSTH

Boneo Community Market

As you know, the Boneo Community Market, held on the third Saturday of each month, is a joint community initiative fundraiser for the Boneo Tennis Club, Cricket Club and Boneo Primary School. We need a school representative of the Boneo Primary School community to join me in supporting the running of the market each month. Two past parent reps are now retiring and have been on the committee since the market’s inception. These parent volunteers have done this for our school for over 30 years even though their children had left the school. The market is a major fundraiser for our school securing us over $18000 each year. I need your help.

This position involves the following:

  • Attending 4 market committee meetings per year held at the school at 6pm
  • Assisting at the market on market day with the general running of the market
  • Supporting the organisation of stall holders which is shared between each group. We would be responsible once every 4 months on a rotational basis.

Please contact me is you are interested in helping our Boneo Community.

Dogs and Pets on School Grounds

School Council have reviewed our policy on pets and dogs on school grounds. This policy can be found on our website next week but the following is a summary of expectations:

  • Pets /dogs can only be on school grounds for student share time after prior permission has been sought
  • If dogs are coming for share time they must be leashed at all times and in the control of a responsible adult

The oval is Shire land and does not constitute school grounds but we ask that dogs are on a leash if you have them on the oval at any time in school hours.
