Boneo Buzz: 17th November
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This morning at our assembly, we had the pleasure of acknowledging and celebrating the commendable efforts of two teams of Year 5 and 6 students who will be representing Boneo PS in the prestigious Energy Breakthrough event next week.
Since 1991, the Energy Breakthrough has been a platform that not only fosters innovation but also provides unique opportunities for students, teachers, parents, and local industry to collaborate. Together, students work on the design and construction of vehicles. Our students have worked throughout the year to prepare as part of our TREC program which is held each Monday for all Year 5 and 6 students. At the start of the year our students write a compelling reason why they want select a particular passion project to engage in. Yesterday, we had over 60 Principal’s and school leaders using the community Hall and our TREC tech students were given the huge problem of solving, no Wi-Fi. Our Tech Wizards saved the day! It just proves that children are exceptionally capable.
Mobile Phones
I want to remind parents that all students in Victoria are unable to have mobile phones either in their bag or in a pocket at school. If students do come to school with a phone, please remind them to drop them into the Office at the beginning of the day and pick it up at the end of the day.
Traffic Management
I want to reiterate to parents and carers the importance of following the restrictions in place when parking at drop-off/pick-up around the tennis court side of the school.
It is a one-way traffic flow for vehicles entering the tennis court area. All vehicles must enter from Boneo Road only. This was implemented to enhance the safety of our students, staff, and parents during busy drop-off and pick-up times.
To further ensure the safety of everyone in the school vicinity, I must emphasise the following guidelines:
One-Way Traffic: Please adhere strictly to the one-way traffic direction when entering and exiting the tennis court area. This measure is in place to streamline traffic and reduce congestion.
No Double Parking: Double parking poses a significant safety hazard and disrupts the smooth flow of traffic. I kindly request that you refrain from double parking at any time.
No Reversing: For the safety of pedestrians and other drivers, it is imperative that no vehicles reverse in or around the tennis court area. This includes drop-off and pick-up activities.
School Fun Run
Our Colour Fun Run was a huge success and both the students and staff had an absolute ball!
We have currently raised $18,100! Thank you for your support with fundraising! Mrs Whitworth is feeling very safe and thinks she will escape being slimed! Let’s reach our target of $20,000 over the coming week to ensure Mrs Whitworth gets slimed!
Remember, the money raised will be going towards the remaining balance of our Ninja Course.
We have been advised by our uniform supplier, Advanced Promotional Clothing, that due to the ongoing cost increases in all areas of production, they will be regretfully increasing the prices of our uniform items.

In Years 3 & 4 we have been creating Ojos de dios (God’S Eyes), which are ritual objects made by the Huichol indigenous people in Mexico. They symbolize long life and protection for young children. Amazing effort across all grades!
