Boneo Buzz: 17th February

Dear Parents and Carers,

In 2023, we continue to have a strong focus on student leadership and learner agency. Our students are given opportunities to have voice in their learning and in the way our school functions. They are active participants in their learning.

Parent Information Videos

Teachers have sent home a link via Compass for families to be able to access Information Videos relevant to each year level. Please take the time to watch the videos to find out more about your child’s learning this year, and refer to your child’s classroom teacher if you have any questions. A reminder that a ‘Preview to Learning’ will also be shared every week via Compass.

Family Food and Fun Night

Our planning is underway for our Family Food and Fun Night. This event is a wonderful way for us to come together as a community. It is also an important fundraiser for our school with the money raised being used to develop an exciting new ‘Ninja Course’ in the playground.

For this event to be successful, we are calling on parent and carer volunteers from each year level to nominate themselves as ‘class convenors’. We truly value the support of our families, so if you are able to devote some time to this event, please be sure to add your name to class rosters by contacting your child’s teacher. We will confirm the class stalls early next week.

We will be holding a Silent Auction on the night and are currently seeking donations, big and small, from local businesses.

If you have your own business and would like to donate, please contact the Office.

Lucky Jars

On Thursday 9th March, students are invited to wear free dress (not school uniform) in exchange for donating a Lucky Jar. The jar should be filled with something that would appeal to children. Some ideas for jar fillers are; small toys, stationery, coins, hair ties, marbles etc.
Lollies are acceptable but please make sure that they are in individual wrappers or place the unopened packet in the jar (this is for health reasons). The jar may be of any size from a large coffee jar to a jam jar.
The jars are then sold through a lucky dip system at our FFFN for $2.

Golf Day

Golf Day is on Friday 17th March. This is a fun event for players of all golfing abilities. Please contact the office for more information.

Share the Joy of Maths Games’

Friday 24th February – 9.30am to 10.30am
Join your child’s class for a morning of exciting maths games. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents and carers to see ‘maths in action’ through a variety of games and challenges.

Sexuality Education

A reminder about the upcoming Parent Information Evening for the ‘Talking the Talk’ sexuality education program on Monday 20th February from 8-9.30pm via zoom. Please refer to previous Compass notifications and register to attend this session.

Respectful Relationships

We are proud to be a lead school in the Respectful Relationships program for our network and just this week we hosted a professional learning session for other schools in our area. The program centres on embedding a culture of respect and equality across the school. This approach leads to a positive impact on student’s academic outcomes, their mental health, classroom behaviour, and relationships between teachers and students.
Together, we can lead the way in saying yes to respect and equality, and creating genuine and lasting change so that every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
