Boneo Buzz: 14th October
Dear Parents and Carers,
IGNITE OUR SCHOOL SPIRIT WITH EXPLOSIONS OF COLOUR POWDER!
It is exciting to see that so many students have already created a profile on schoolfunrun.com.au
and started fundraising. We are aiming to raise funds to replace the senior play equipment. For every $5000 raised, the children will ‘colour bomb’ a teacher at Assembly. Join us next Friday for the first ‘teacher colour bomb’. It’s going to be lots of fun.
Last weekend, some of our students started fundraising for the school fun run. They came up with the ideas and planned what they would make and sell. The students baked up a storm and got busy with making signs. Many of their classmates came and helped them sell at their stall. They raised $123.80 and are now planning on what to do next.
DET COVID-19 isolation requirements have changed
The Victorian Government has announced the end of the Pandemic Declaration and associated Pandemic Orders.
The following settings, based on advice from the Department of Health, will apply from 11.59pm Wednesday 12 October 2022.
It is strongly recommended that students:
- who test positive to COVID-19 stay home and isolate for 5 days
- should not attend school after 5 days if still symptomatic
- who are symptomatic but have not tested positive should not attend school
- advise the school of the COVID-19 positive test result
Where students become symptomatic at school they should:
- be collected by their parents/carers
- undergo testing for COVID-19
It is strongly recommended that staff:
- who test positive to COVID-19 stay home and isolate for 5 days
- should not attend after 5 days if still symptomatic
- who are symptomatic but have not tested positive should not attend school
Reporting positive COVID-19 test results
The Department of Health and DET recommends that a person who tests positive for COVID-19 should inform those with whom they have recently been in contact, including their workplace, schools and household.
Parents and carers will therefore be asked to continue to report positive student COVID-19 cases using the VicED COVID Tool and call the school if your child tests positive.
Please continue to test and report positive cases to us.

Donations continue to flood in, and again, we wish to acknowledge our wonderful business community for their support.
Thank you to the families who have added their names to the donation collection list on Compass. it is wonderful to have your support. If you have collected a donation, or volunteered to approach a business, please follow up and bring items to the school office next week.
We are excited to announce the return of major sponsor Kiodo Design & Marketing.
Natalee Chiodo is the design and marketing manager at Kiodo and is responsible for the gorgeous ‘Spring’ inspired promotional design for our event. Natalee has been onboard as a major sponsor since 2017 and we are incredibly grateful for her continued support.
A Special Note from JSC
Don’t forget next week is our big 123 Read to me! On Friday 21st October, please remember to bring in a pre-loved book from home to donate. Thanks to those students who have already donated! We are looking forward to sharing this wonderful event with you during next week’s assembly.
We’re holding the School Fun Run as a major fundraising event this year! The event will be held on Thursday 17th November. We are really hoping to raise $30,000 which will pay for a new senior school playground.
Keep your eyes peeled for the sponsorship forms which were sent home with your child. Once you have the form, you should sign up for a Student Profile Page at schoolfunrun.com.au. You’ll be able to access online fundraising and can win a $20,000 Ultimate Family Package!
Students who raise $10 or more will receive a reward, and the more money you raise the better the reward, and the more you help the school!
We’re looking for all students to participate and we’re organising a great day for our community, so we’d love everyone to come down to support the kids.
If you have any questions about the Fun Run please contact the School Fun Run Office on 1800 FUN RUN.
Thanks for supporting the school and we hope to see you at the event!
Snapshot of Learning
Year 4 Book Club
Book Club is a great experience for the class because we are able to express our ideas and learning while having fun. Our reading groups come together to share their thoughts about the book we are reading. We have different roles for the week that help us to discuss the chapters we have read by looking at things from a different point of view. The discussion leader begins the session by asking us questions that help us to make personal connections with the story but also create a debate about our opinions. Other roles include an imaginative illustrator, character catchers, star summariser, real life connector and word wizard. By sharing and responding to each other, we are learning how to take turns, listen more deeply to each other and how to respond to each other in a challenging but respectful way. Once we have shared and debated our thoughts, we set up a café style classroom and share special snacks, discussing what we have learned from each other during our book club session.
