Boneo Buzz: 12th May
Dear Parents and Carers,
As students have explored the history of our school many have been interested in the way children entertained themselves in the past. During World War 2, when the production of toys stopped for a number of years, children went back to making toys from objects they found inside and outside their homes. To honour this, each student has brought home a peg doll kit this week. We are hoping each child can be supported to create their own peg doll for their 150th Anniversary classroom exhibition. To create the display, please have the peg dolls returned to class by Friday 19th May.
Introducing our new Chaplain Teresa Garland
Last year, my husband and I moved to the Mornington Peninsula, from the Outer Eastern Suburbs. Instantly, we fell in love with the surroundings of this community, especially the people.
Originally from New Zealand, I moved to Australia 25 years ago, seeking a new adventure. I travelled around Australia then settled in Melbourne. That’s where my career journey started. After I graduated, I worked in many different Community Services fields, including, Disability, Youth, Mental Health, Family Services and Community Development. Working in these diverse fields, gave me a different perspective and appreciation of how important it is to be part of a community. I’ve always loved working with children, starting out as a volunteer in a classroom setting, to a basketball coach and a local Football trainer / manager.
After raising four children, I understand all children are unique and deserve opportunities to thrive in school, at home and in their community.
As the School Chaplain, I’m honoured and excited to be part of Boneo Primary. I look forward to meeting students and parents and assisting the community in their wellbeing journey.
Mother’s Day Stall
It was wonderful to watch the students shop for gifts at the stall on Thursday. A lot of consideration went into gift selection and we reminded all shoppers that any sweet treats purchased had to last until Sunday!
A very special thank you to Jo Twentyman, Trudi Wooley, Julie Hauenschild, Linda Jessop, Martha Rand, Vanessa Smedley, Narelle Hollway, Jacinta Mynott and Jessica Goodwin for volunteering their time to assist with the stall. Also, to Sarah Curtis of Co&Co. for kindly donating candles & soaps.
We hope you all enjoy your special day.
