Boneo Buzz: 30th August

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope all of our fathers, grandfathers and significant male role models for our children enjoy a wonderful Father’s Day connecting with family. A huge thank you to Kylie Hacking and the team of fabulous parent volunteers who organised the Father’s day stall today.

Judah 2A had this to say about his dad:

‘My dad is a lovely father because he does special things for me. Once he made me a purse to put my special things in. Most of the time we have movie nights and pick special treats together. I do jobs with dad and I watch him work.’

Ski Camp

Following on from the success of our Year 3 camp last week, 18 students from Years 4, 5 and 6 headed to Mt Buller to experience an action packed week of skiing and snowboarding. The students have enjoyed all of the extremes Mt Buller can offer; glorious sun or a windy whiteout.

Millie – ‘This has been an amazingly terrific experience.’

Bailey  – ‘Breathtaking powder and snowboarding.’

Bella – ‘The views have been amazing.’

Chlementine  – ‘I’ve really enjoyed exploring the mountain and getting to know new friends.’

Josh – ‘I’ve enjoyed skiing with friends.’

Oaks Day

A huge thank you to the parents who have supported our request for assistance by joining the Oaks Day team. We are always willing to welcome fresh ideas, and would still love to see some new faces at our meetings.

A major component of the day are our auctions. We will be holding both silent and live auctions at this year’s event and seek the help of our school community in providing items to be included in the auctions.

If you have your own business, or your employer would be interested in supporting our fundraising efforts by offering goods or services for auctioning, please contact the office. Sponsors are acknowledged at the event and on our facebook page. All donations, large and small, help us to achieve our fundraising goals.

We are thrilled to again welcome Natalee Chiodo of ‘Kiodo Design & Marketing’ to our sponsor list for 2019. Natalee has very generously donated her time and expertise over the past few years to produce our gorgeous marketing material. The stunning designs certainly add a touch of class to the event, and set the theme for the day perfectly.

Tickets are on sale from 9am next Thursday 5th September, for Boneo parents and their guests.

Public ticket release from 9am Monday 16th September.

H.P.V Update

The Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) program is in full swing and our vehicles have been returned mechanically tuned and repaired thanks to Duane Pittock at RT Motors, Emmett Forde and Sheen Towing.

Aside from racing, the students have now begun work on their presentations. We are looking for large sheets of Corflute (corrugated plastic) on which to display our learning at the event. If families have, or know of any companies that could donates 10-15 large sheets of Corflute, this would be extremely helpful and greatly appreciated.

Go Boneo!

Year 6 Market Day

This term, the Year 6 students have been investigating the wide world of Business and Economics. Students have researched a variety of companies, produced information reports and explored financial mathematics. As part of our unit, students have started their own businesses, where they hope to sell their own hand-made products at our Year 6 Market. The Market will take place on Thursday 5th September in the Hall. The prices of items will range from $1 – $10 dollars, and all proceeds will be donated to our Sister School, Pandanon Elementary, in the Philippines. Products include, keychains, earrings, necklaces, stress balls, plants and decorative boxes just to name a few. During the morning of the market, students will be able to exchange their cash for tickets, which can be used to purchase goods on the day. The students are so excited to be able to share their learning with the community. We look forward to seeing you there.
